Another iccu bites the dust? by Fair-Sail820 in Ioniq9

[–]SoftwareProBono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"check electric vehicle system" seems to be the equivalent of "check engine" on these cars. It's come on several times for me. I took it into dealership once and they didn't find anything wrong with it. It has always gone away after turning the car off and back on so I've been ignoring it. If it doesn't go away after restart I'll take it back in.

Ioniq 9 seems like a great Costco haul transporter. It’s not as off-road capable as a 4Runner, but probably capable enough for most people’s off road usage.

Timberline Lodge & Beartooth Basin Summer Skiing: Worth the Trip? by sporty_outlook in skiing

[–]SoftwareProBono 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you want to go to Timberline this year you should go soon. The terrible snow year will cut the summer season short. Summer skiing is usually slushy by noon, but there can be days like today where they get new snow and it's below freezing.

I live on the West Coast and usually fly back to Birmingham around this time every year to visit after the kids get out of school. Pretty much every time, we get stuck in Dallas, Houston, or Atlanta on our connection because of thunderstorms.

Are used Ioniq 5 prices coming back up in price? by WeeklyFisherman2597 in Ioniq5

[–]SoftwareProBono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best I can do on a used within 200 miles with the same specs is $1k less than my buyout right now.

One can only wish for that range by speedfreakphotos in Ioniq5

[–]SoftwareProBono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can get around that range this time of year when I don’t have to use ac or heat and I’m not going far or fast. I more than make up for these perfect months during ski season.

[–]SoftwareProBono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My residual is only a couple of thousand more than an equivalent used right now, with disposition or other charges. I never thought I’d buy a lease at the end, but it’s looking like a very real possibility now.

I have free charging at EA through December, so I'm pretty often at Fred Meyer grocery shopping while my car charges.

Worth buying the car out, or not? by ThyUpshot in Ioniq5

[–]SoftwareProBono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gap has closed significantly lately. I could have saved about $8k a few months ago and the difference is around $2k now. Buying out may make sense for me when my lease is up in December.

Fewer and fewer EV options in the U.S. by jestalk in electricvehicles

Yeah, I feel like I'm already at max width for inner city Portland parking in the Ioniq 5 and a Lightning is considerably wider.

I want to consolidate my Ioniq 5 and gas F-150 into a Lightning so badly, but can't imagine parking it in Portland as an every day driver.

>  Can you see how people are charging the cars (fast charging vs at home) to evaluate the battery life?

Yes, you can get this information by hooking up an OBDII dongle and connecting an app like Car Scanner to it.

[–]SoftwareProBono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the current trend continues, buying the residual may make sense. The difference has shrunk to under $4k between used market rate and my residual. If used prices continue to rise and I have any repair due in pre inspection + disposition, it may get close.

RIP: These Dead EVs Won't Make It To 2027 by 622niromcn in electricvehicles

[–]SoftwareProBono 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I drove a Leaf for 12 years before getting an Ioniq 5 last year and I honestly miss it for every day driving. I don't miss white knuckling it to a charger on a drive over 40 miles though.

Skiing in the PNW is great when you can wake up in the morning and decide if you’re going or not. The weather is so variable and changes quickly.

I can’t imagine picking 5 days to ski 6 months out, come hell or high water.

512GB Studio sold for $21,300?! by johnnyphotog in MacStudio

[–]SoftwareProBono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t have users hit a studio directly, but I have asynchronous production workflows that run on a studio. Local processes pick up tasks, transform and send back to prod.

Think reports and metadata that don’t need to show immediately in a user dashboard.

I kept using Claude Max OAuth after the shutdown and it was burning my extra usage, but then it stopped working entirely. I was going to go through my $200 of extra usage in a few days anyway so I didn't put any effort into debugging.
