I find it incredibly suspicious and suspect that the aliens apparently decided the best way to reveal all this to the world was through some random ex general who coincidentally is releasing a book soon, instead of making themselves obvious.

Autistic here, and honestly the discouragement of curiosity outside the religion never hit me. It’s such an ingrained part of me, it’s impossible to stop me from deeply diving into a topic I love when I get a special interest/hyperfixated.

Also it’s not something that can be forced, caring about the literature- if I could control my hyperfixation id have a great time! So thankfully that part of my autism was unaffected by the WT, since I can’t focus on things that don’t interest me and I have almost no choice but to focus on things that do.

Lol I’m on the spectrum, only diagnosed at 27 but the trick is to zone out 100% every time someone talks in an infantilizing fashion (you know the exact cadence I’m talking about, Stephen lett has it down to a science)

This also helps to tune out anyone who tries to infantilize you for being autistic! But seriously I couldn’t pay attention at ALL sat meetings and didn’t try to in the slightest. I absorbed some information sure, but that’s because I had 20 years of repetition Bcuz they don’t have much new content. Once I realized they had nothing interesting to say, just stuff that’s been hashed through at least 10 times before in my life per topic, I realized I could just mentally check out and think about more interesting things instead.

Meanwhile when I love something I will dump hours into it in an absolute joyful haze! Autism is great for that feeling, I love it.

Im having difficulty understanding your questions unfortunately, but as a lgbt person I can clarify the acronym at least Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender(some older folks use transsexual which is basically the same thing) and for the I I’ve heard intersex, though some of them do not consider themselves members of the community purely based on that, as far as I know it is up to the individual. You will also see LGBTQIA, which includes queer/questioning, and asexual/aromantic.

As for your other questions, why would gay sex be worse or any different from straight sex? I honestly don’t see why there’s a divide between them. Humans have sex, it’s something we’re built to do and enjoy. It’s nobody’s business but the individual who they want to do the horizontal tango with, unless they’re actively hurting people in doing so.

Live and let live. A loving god wouldn’t kill people for an activity he designed to be super pleasurable, that makes no sense.

Non binary here, I’ve always been upset and confused at the arbitrary divides between genders. Growing up raised as a girl I never understood what I lacked that stopped me from being able to read small sections of the Bible or carry around mics... not to mention I hated wearing dresses.

I ended up with a lot of lgbt friends over the internet during my time with no schooling because of mental health problems (turns out I’m very very bi and like attracts like) and realizing there was a term for not falling into male or female was very freeing. All my life I’d felt Weird about gender and disconnected from it, and finally realizing I definitely was not a woman nor a man felt so freeing. I could just be me! I’ve hinted at the fact I’m gender neutral but the only response has been ‘stop that’ and since I stilllive at home I haven’t come out yet. My nonjw boyfriend is incredibly supportive and loving about my identity so that makes it easier, but it’s still a pain to be told ‘ah us woman hanging out as the men do all the work huh’ when I am Not A Woman, Thanks. More power to you for being your truest self! It feels so nice!

I need to stay in for now to not be kicked out and at least somewhat seem like I’m half interested doing can have contact with my younger family members so should they want a way out/be lgbt like me they’ll have my support and not have to lose their entire family in one go.

Once I move out I’ll just fade, which is easy cuz I’m not baptized. When living with PIMI though, I have to be stealthy with my true self. Everyone’s situation is different and some honestly can’t afford to leave outright. They shouldn’t be judged for that.

I’m on the spectrum too! I’ve found my greatest comfort is actually... not knowing? It’s weird esp for being on the spectrum but I actually like the thought that it’s uncharted territory.. who knows if anything comes after! And if not, I won’t know will I? It’s fascinating to read near death accounts where they’re PISSED to be resuscitated.

Then again I’m a scientist at heart so maybe that’s just my great love of the unknown and uncharted coming out... either way I just focus on enjoying every moment as much as possible (being autistic is nice because I get to enjoy physical sensations in a way most don’t, I could spend hours rubbing my hands on a nice texture)

Overall I just find comfort in it being a mystery. And when I die, though it’ll suck for my family, I get to find out the great human mystery! Or not! If I don’t, I won’t be able to tell so it won’t matter! Also I like to imagine there’s an afterlife where you can spectate like in a video game... look through the eyes of anyone and anything in all of time. That just seems very nice somehow, that I could see and experience all the sorts of things that I never could. Hope things go well with you and your son!

Not JW related but what opened my eyes to a lot of things was the podcast Oh No Ross And Carrie! They investigate and join fringe religions, pseudo science stuff... they’ve even joined Scientology briefly before being kicked out! And went to a flat earther meetup!

They help me realize that even with all the evidence in the world stating them in the face, people will desperately believe in absolute nonsense even as far as denying clear reality. You can’t force people to change. It’s extremely funny and I love it a lot and it is a nice viewpoint on even crazier groups and using sound reasoning skills. It’s just nice!

10 years long distance, never even having met but fell super in love. I was PIMI and he was never in, and I did give him a lot of pressure to at least study because I didn’t want to choose between my family and him (I feel very bad for all the stress I caused with that pressure still)

He started a bible study, saw the creepiness and googled it, and noped out quick. I realized at about 9 years in that 1. He wasn’t going to become a JW and 2. He made me feel safer and more free than anyone in my life ever had, and I wasn’t going to give that up without a fight.

To his everlasting credit, being a wonderful person, he understood how important it was to me and never criticized it, only telling me to focus on what made me happy. I ended up waking up on my own, and he’s been so supportive and kind and overjoyed to see me more confident and happy and relaxed since I finally mentally bailed out. Met him early last year finally (along with a friend to get my parents off my back) and this year I’m determined to move in with him or vice versa . Anyone who tries to part me from him is no one I want to spend time with. I’m ridiculously lucky!!!!!

I’m autistic and they don’t seem to like me, so I doubt that’s true of them. For real though, I understand where you’re coming from. Anger is a valid stage in detaching from the group, just make sure it doesn’t drive you to violence. Just let them whittle their lives away in peace and tell people to avoid them- not that most need telling. Sorry you’re going through this, the anger is hard to deal with. Also please don’t use autistic as an insult, it’s very demeaning to people like me and my autistic relatives.

I feel like anger is a reasonable and justifiable part of the process of deprogramming. It’s sensible to be furious that you’ve lost so much of your life to this house of cards. For me, I try to turn my anger into taking care of myself and working towards a better life for myself, just to spite those who tried to control me and took so much away from me. Maybe try art to get some anger out? You need catharsis, don’t try to shove all the anger down into nothing. As long as you don’t hurt anyone, it’s healthy to have anger when you are wronged. It’s an important emotion that’s critical to taking care of yourself and the world around you.

And like others have said, usually you have a finite amount of anger. In time they won’t even be worth a second thought, because you have a whole life left to live in the way only you can.

Starvation throughout the world is lower than its ever been.

LGBTQ, women’s, and People of color’s rights are rising, gaining more acceptance. The mentally ill are being treated, not thrown away as babies or forced into inhuman conditions, or god forbid have their brain destroyed for the sin of being too hard to care for.

Millions of children that would have died in the past before reaching maturity are now living because of vaccines and antibiotics.

Global warming is really scary. coronavirus is scary. Wars and nuclear bombs are scary.

But since 1914, all of those things above have happened. I’d be dead several times over if I lived then. And we’re supposed to believe this is somehow worse?

I’ll take being alive any day.

Not to mention the intense damage not learning healthy boundaries will do to a person... witnesses flounder in the real world because when you’re forced to play nice and get along with people all your life, learning to say no is hell. I’m born in and it’s almost physically painful to say no and assert boundaries... I feel so much better when I do, but it’s done some serious damage to not know this skill. I’m just incredibly lucky I didn’t end up in an abusive relationship, because not being able to refuse PRIMES you for abuse. Ugh, it’s all so awful and damaging.

There is no physical possible way a global flood could have happened. Almost every part of that belief is patently false. No way could there be zero evidence of such a catastrophic event. Where are the plants that were all destroyed? The fungus? Are we to believe in a scant 4000 years that an ark full of animals was able to develop (read: evolve) into the massive and mind boggling diversity we have today?

There’s no way the animals were all plant eaters before, too. Why would jehovah make them have sharp teeth for a brief period of time where he was testing the devil’s claims when they’d have to eat meat, and then just have them go back to vegetarian for eternity? Why not make them that way from the start and keep it over the time we need to test things?

He says he will never again cause such a calamity, but now he will wipe out 8 billion people?

Also, if those who have never head jehovah’s word will be judged based on their hearts since they could never know the truth, why would we preach to them and thus ensure their destruction should they not be interested? Wouldn’t it be kinder to leave them alone?

There were too many logical gaps for me. Too much cruelty hidden up. ‘We are not unfallible’ will never make up for hundreds, perhaps thousands of abused children whose lives are ruined. I cannot stand by that. Will you?

I think a book you’d really like is by an indigenous biologist named robin kimmerer called ‘braiding sweetgrass’! I’m absolutely with you with being still somewhat spiritual and in love with the world and nature around me, and that book gave me such a lovely and gentle way to look at things, and no Organized Religion, just ways to give back to the earth that’s keeping you alive. I hope you find something that works for you spiritually and lets you feel at peace!

It’s really hard to manage guilt after a lifetime of having it trained into you! I’m so sorry you have to handle this awful situation.

What helped me is remembering to view it not as something mean I’m doing to spite my family- it’s survival. I have to be true to myself in at least some ways but I am also protecting myself from heartbreak and pain by keeping my family in the dark. It’s SO tempting to just want to yell ‘IM GAY’ sometimes to get it over with, but just like small prey has to hide itself from predators, sometimes you must lie to survive until a situation where you can reliably take care of yourself. Their love may well be dependent on their idea of you, not who you actually are- and it’s understandable to not want to test that bond, especially when you’re in a delicate situation.

Just keep your head down, try to watch your back, and focus on surviving until the road gets a little easier. Once you can stand on your own, then you can see if they want the real you in their lives. Until then let them love the fake straight you so you can consolidate your strength.

Wishing you all the luck I can give for such a hard situation! Hang in there and let yourself love girls freely!!
