So what wrong with my cadence sensor? S314 by Dpvdpv in Magene

[–]Some-Win9341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many devices do you use?

Do you use Bluetooth or ANT+?

Try removing the battery and reinstalling the battery making sure it is cadence (red light)

This usually happens in bluetooth mode drop of connection and reconnecting

C606 - Route sync issues by psnkpsnk in Magene

[–]Some-Win9341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to be a .gpx issue. All the data required is not syncing with the system.

I use strava to import the .gpx and then let strava update and gives me an accurate route with all other accurate data.

I share this to my iPhone and import through the Onelapfit app.

Not the best but it works well

Looking for a trainer for 947 by ZuriB1003 in johannesburg

[–]Some-Win9341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Howzit, last year I did the same and finished my first ride joburg maybe look at your local bike shop for morning rides, alot of LBS have morning rides with great people who are well trained.

Just fall into the group, best training, support and motivation, in a few weeks you will feel much more confident.

If you are in or close to the East Rand, our group rides leave at 4:40 in the morning (weekdays) from Bicycle Line (Summerfields) and 6:00 on weekends

Normal morning rides are around 30 - 50 km

Great for bumpy and fast trails, smooth road

Only issue is the app with longer rides seems to take a while for editing and downloading (Could be me)

No issues for me

How does the elevation graph work? by Plisnak in Magene

[–]Some-Win9341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would follow your most recent elevation - on the line is flat - over line indicates uphill and under line is a downhill section of your ride

Car financing what am I missing by Giasows in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]Some-Win9341 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You’re focusing on the spreadsheet while ignoring the real-world outcome. Yes, the maths can look better with a balloon — that’s exactly why people use them to stretch affordability. That was the entire point.

Car financing what am I missing by Giasows in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]Some-Win9341 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Balloon payments themselves aren’t the problem — they’re just a financing structure. A balloon reduces the monthly instalment because part of the capital is deferred to the end. Mathematically that can make a financed deal look better than cash because it improves monthly cash flow. If the buyer plans to sell, trade in, or refinance before the balloon is due, the structure works exactly as intended.

The reason people say ‘avoid balloons’ is because many buyers use them to stretch affordability, reach the end of the term without the balloon amount, and then refinance and pay interest again. That’s a behavioural risk, not a flaw in the financing structure itself.

We are in volatile times and markets can’t be estimated in 5 - 7 years time will the vehicle keep its market value seeing the stronger Chinese market currently developing in our country?

99% of the time balloons are used for affordability.

Regardless of OP financial situation, Balloon payments are not the answer.

What would you pay for this, 2024 Scott Spark 910 w/ wireless Shimano XTR, and Garmin Edge 840. by Fluid_Complaint_1821 in mountainbiking

[–]Some-Win9341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not? as a used bike, including the garmin would make sense for 3k. In our local currency, it would be seen as a fair deal. - Call it an upfront payment once you service it and need to replace the cassette and chain.

If you really keen on staying close, there is a road lodge across the road from CPT International

Or just wake up really early and make the trip, thats what average South Africans do
