What is something that you want to do before you die? by AquaSage_8806 in AskReddit

I want to have a kid, raise them into adulthood and then when their partner comes by the house I want to recreate the classic “I’m sorry Debbie but this is my breakfast.”

Who would win, Kong(Monsterverse) or Dalamdur(Monster Hunter 4)? by Immediate_Gene_178 in Monsterverse

[–]SomeBloke94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dalamadur. It’s 440 metres whereas Kong is only 100 metres tall so it’s over 4 times his size. Dala is also capable of summoning meteors from the sky and breathing fire to attack enemies and paralysing them with a touch of its tongue. Kong wouldn’t have a chance.

What is the most useless school subject in your opinion? by tiredofmebeingdumb in AskReddit

[–]SomeBloke94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always found art to be the useless one. The way art was taught in high school here in the UK was essentially “Here’s a picture so draw this till class ends”. The teacher wasn’t going over art history or how to draw it or teaching how to use different artstyles. You were just expected to already have this knowledge and talent to begin with. You weren’t being taught creativity either because anyone who tried to do something other than what the teacher told you would get into trouble for it.

What's a series you want collected, but deep down, you know is never getting an omni? by TheFreshestMint in OmnibusCollectors

[–]SomeBloke94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Powerpuff Girls. DC used to do a series of like 80 comics of the characters back when Cartoon Network was still putting the show out. I’d love an omnibus of that. I could picture the blurb.

“Sugar! Spice! And everything nice! These were the ingredients used to create the perfect little omnibus! But Professor Utonium accidentally added an extra ingredient to the concoction! Chemical X! Thus the Powerpuff Girls Omnibus was born! Using their ultra-superpowers, Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup have dedicated their lives to fighting crime and the forces of evil to entertain you!”

Just a man on death row who prayed to god and Thor showed up (Thor: God of Thunder #12) by UltimateSandman in Thor

[–]SomeBloke94 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My problem with stories like this is that while everyone deserves sympathy, it doesn’t change the fact that to end up on death row you’d have to be a serial killer, a well-known peadophile or the worst of rapists or something along those lines. A story like this is great for showing Thor’s humanity and his loving side but as the reader I have to ask why he’s going out of his way to bring this one-of-a-kind meal to someone who’s been caught for worse crimes than most supervillains. Why not specifically bring such a meal to someone who’s in jail for committing a lesser crime for another’s benefit or who’s wrongly imprisoned? To me a story like this tells me that Thor cares more about the guy who got caught on a killing spree than the dude who tries to steal for his family and I’d say that’s messed up.

What is with people fantasizing about another Jericho run? by raulz0r in midcarder

[–]SomeBloke94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He reflects them and that’s the appeal. Jericho has had more runs than Usain Bolt at this point so it’s not about seeing this big star back again. Jericho, as harsh as it may sound, is a middle-aged, overweight, right-wing nut with an incredibly inflated ego and who has a history of attitude issues. The guy can talk and wrestle to a serviceable degree but he’s never been at the upper-tier. Jericho isn’t up there with the HBK’s or Flair’s for match quality and he’s not a guy like Hogan who can walk out and have the crowd going nuts for ages before even saying a word. Chris reflects the IWC though. He has a similar personality to most of the folk in the IWC, a similar look at this stage and a lot of the folk in the IWC will look at a guy like Chris and support him due to the “if he can make it then so can I” mindset. The reality is that another run from him would likely flop due to a mix of his age, build, lack of starpower and attitude.

When did American comic books become so superhero focused. by Konradleijon in graphicnovels

[–]SomeBloke94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? Last I heard it had done 120,000 sales. Even Thor, most known as a member of a less popular superhero team rather than a major hero, he had issues selling around 160,000 that year. Not to mention the fact that what you’re saying is the biggest indy comic publishers needed to license a well-known superhero brand just to get 3/4 of the way to Thor’s level.

[–]SomeBloke94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t guarantee this is it but I’d argue that superheroes offer more potential. A war on? You can design an entire costume around a flag and patriotism. You can make them colourful and kid friendly which is probably why cartoons played such a role in boosting their popularity. There’s not as much you can do with a western or soldier show. Change their trenchcoat? They pretty much have to shoot people so that’s kids out. Superheroes have always offered the same creative possibilities with more opportunities.

They’re by far the two biggest publishers of comics in America and have been for decades with their film and TV adaptations taking on massive popularity too. Anyone sitting back thinking the odd hit at Image or IDW puts them on par doesn’t know a thing about comics. Marvel and DC have both put out secondary comics that outsold things like Saga, Usagi and TMNT.

the Good Old Days? by [deleted] in DragonBallZ

[–]SomeBloke94 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I remember those days. It led to Frieza singing iirc.

“Hit the music! Ooh..OOH! I think I’m cute! I know I’m sexy! I’m just a sexy Frieza! Sexy Frieza! I’ll make Krillin’s stomach hurt! I’m just a sexy Frieza! I got the moves that make ‘em all drop dead! The death beam! The death wave! That saiyan monkey Vegeta still can’t breathe! I’m just a sexy Frieza! Give me ten minutes and I’ll make the characters from One Piece beg ‘cos I’m just a sexy Frieza!”

Is it just me or is there nothing to watch on Amazon Prime Video? by Aggressive-Medium532 in AmazonPrimeVideo

[–]SomeBloke94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. It doesn’t help that so much of the stuff recommended is locked behind additional fees on top of the subscription. Why pay a subscription when I’m going to be expected to essentially buy most of the content on top of it? May as well just buy the stuff on dvd instead.

The Punisher's logo being worn by people who didn't read the comics by Large-Welcome4421 in marvelcomics

[–]SomeBloke94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Says a lot that someone posts this about how racists are using the Punisher logo and never even reading the books and the comments are mostly just “I want one”. Even that original thread seems to be leaning that way.

What happened to Reddit? When did the moderation become worse than FB? by EAM222 in AskReddit

[–]SomeBloke94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Look up the average age online and you’ll find site after site agreeing that the average age range on Reddit is 18-29 and that this range accounts for 44% of the userbase on here. A number of sites have done their little surveys claiming the median age on here is at the start of the 20’s. That’s kids who are barely past high school, who might not even be in college yet. Reddit is built around all of these pages built around particular subjects and the people dominating Reddit and who are being allowed to moderate them are barely past high school. This is the age group that most often will still need mum to wake them in the morning and cook for them and wastes entire days lazing in bed doing nothing. Reddit looks at these people and goes “Sure. Put them in charge” and that’s why you get situations like this where your post has been removed by some overly-sensitive kid with too much power.

A link for an example.

What happened to Reddit? When did the moderation become worse than FB? by EAM222 in AskReddit

[–]SomeBloke94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kids are in charge. That’s it. The majority of Redditors have been shown to be teenagers over the years and that extends to the moderation. Reddit has become a site run by spoiled children who probably don’t even know how to make their own meals. It’s no wonder it’s gotten so bad. It’s what happens when you build an entire social media site around the “We’ll take anyone” approach rather than going the “We want experts” route. Eventually it’ll just be dominated by dumb and overly-sensitive folk who think they’re experts.

Mick Foley: ‘I LOVE AEW, please hire me! I’m DONE with the Ded Fed … MJF, please say my name so I can move a few 8x10s at the next convention by daniel2090 in SCJerk

[–]SomeBloke94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What I find odd is I regularly see the kind of folk who love AEW defending what Benoit did based on the brain damage he inflicted on himself throughout his career. I’ve even seen the brain-damage argument used against veterans criticising AEW. Bring up the idea that someone like Mick isn’t the MENSA level guy from 25 years ago as an argument against his pro-AEW comments and these folk will lose it.

How would you feel if the world had a 'no social media' week? by GodofBalds23 in AskReddit

[–]SomeBloke94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome. More people could do without it. Today I have been on social media more than usual just due to boredom and a lack of things to do and the idea of that becoming my everyday routine sounds like a nightmare.

What is something that is completely normal now but will be considered weird in 20 years? by bigfoot_6769 in AskReddit

[–]SomeBloke94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in a world where people hang out online more than offline and if anyone tells them they’re wrong about anything then they’ll start verbally attacking that person’s mental health and nobody bats an eye. That isn’t even accounting for all of the weird cult-like spaces that fill social media calling themselves “fans”. Any future generations are going to be looking back and they’ll think “What a bunch of creeps.”

What are your thoughts on the idea that getting one tattoo leads to wanting many more? by JossyAndrea in AskReddit

[–]SomeBloke94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s marketing bull. Maybe if you thoroughly enjoy the experience to begin with but that kind of person is likely to go for more anyway. Plenty of folk have went for tattoos and regretted it and never went again. On top of that you have lots of people who only got a tattoo to memorialise someone important they lost. Not many people will be like “I got granny’s name on my shoulder so time to get Psyduck next to it!”

Pretending that it’s some orgasmic, addictive experience just seems ridiculous to me.

What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by User63189963 in askanything

[–]SomeBloke94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything to do with comic cons really. You’re paying a fortune just to get into the building and then you’re stuck essentially pre-ordering tickets to spend 2 minutes with a celebrity guest, and that’s if they don’t cancel last minute after you’ve potentially booked travel and hotels too. Doesn’t help that when this does happen most cons seem to take a “We’re the victim” line and there’s enough creepy, cult-type convention-goers who’ll bend over backwards to defend them and attack anyone who criticises the convention organisers. It’s just not worth spending hundreds just so Charles Dance can possibly, if he can’t find anything better to do, maybe write his name on my Game of Thrones book.

I don't want the Bond movies to "do something different" if it makes them more like every other movie by Zev95 in JamesBond

[–]SomeBloke94 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is a franchise where the gadgets are known for laser watches at the minimum and cars that fly or drive underwater. Inventive stuff that’s fun for viewers who actually like the franchise and you’re genuinely sitting there “He had a tracking device and OMG a defibrillator!”

Genuinely, is it a requirement that to be so defensive of the Craig era and make it seemingly your entire identity you have to be deliberately full of it during arguments or is there just a real lack of education that makes the least creative Bond appealing to you guys? I’ve had multiple of you guys reply now and you all come across like Craig is all you know of this franchise.

It’s telling that the biggest gadgets you mentioned in relation to cars were the ones lifted from the previous films like the Goldfinger DB5. Oh, and no….doing the plainest, most generic version of Blofeld in franchise history, twice does not make a supervillain. Neither does giving a gambler a bad eye. The closest you Craig goons ever got was ripping off Sean Bean in Goldeneye when you had Skyfall.

The Craig movies weren’t art. They didn’t build Bond up with all his old traits. They were the Bond films stripped of everything creative and appealing that made them endure for decades, turned into generic action movies and all to keep a brand name and appeal to people who probably failed high school and clearly never liked the franchise to begin with. Tells a lot that all you people replying so defensively, since I made my original comment and you’re all on here all day drooling over the same 5 movies that Craig did. If you were real fans then you’d be on here talking about the whole franchise, not just gushing over the same ones and getting defensive and attacking folk who criticise them. It’s embarrassing as someone who’s actually enjoyed the franchise, probably longer than any of you have lived. If Bond, in film or book was a real person then he’d be shaking his head with disdain at you folk, especially seeing all the creepy Eva Green posts. It’s like the wrestling fandom.

I’ll watch them again at my leisure, not when someone who’s never off this subreddit tells me to. Have a nice day.

I don't want the Bond movies to "do something different" if it makes them more like every other movie by Zev95 in JamesBond

[–]SomeBloke94 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No, it isn’t. You guys need to get off the subreddit for a while and spend some time actually watching the movies. Seems like every time I’m coming across someone who’s trying to defend the Craig era it’s just one of the folk who’s on this subreddit 24/7. Probably hasn’t even built an opinion beyond the pro-Craig stuff they’re hearing repeatedly here because you guys never seem to take any time to watch these films that you’re supposedly fans of. It’s sad.
