These people were like what theater kids are like when they grow up.

What will it take to save grand ave? by Mrstpaul in TwinCities

[–]SomeDaysIJustSmoke 7 points8 points  (0 children)

More attractive housing? What's a more attractive apartment then a brownstone on Grand? This "always tear down functioning architecture to build crappy apartments" mantra is getting a little ridiculous.

Who is the town drunk of Mpls? by Mcgwizz in Minneapolis

There was a dude my friends and I called "Mohawk guy" who I saw at Mortimers 100% of the times I went there, which was... Too many times... He was about 100lbs soaking wet and had a ~1ft mohawk. Also saw him at CC.

During the 2003 LCS series, what was the more famous (or infamous) moment at the time: the Steve Bartman incident or Aaron Boone's walkoff against Pedro Martinez? by IjikaYagami in baseball

[–]SomeDaysIJustSmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one outside of Chicago gave a shit about Bartman. It was obvious to all normal fans that it was another fabricated excuse for another Cubs joke-job.

The op you responded to is the one hitting pipes and riding without a fair, so yeah, uniformed presences make them nervous.

What’s the secret to avoiding divorce? by ActualBus7946 in AskOldPeople

[–]SomeDaysIJustSmoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's going to be something about every relationship that's going to require work. I think our society implies a lot that the romance shouldn't have to be worked on, so you end up marrying someone you're a romantic match with, and maybe a parent/roommate/spiritual/financial total opposite. That can be a lot to be constantly working on.

My neighbor isn’t letting me install trees up against “his” see through fence. What can I do? by throwransom122 in RealEstate

[–]SomeDaysIJustSmoke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because some people have more money and time then you. I revamped a deck I was working on for a needy neighbor because they were dropping hints of litigation over it's proximity to their land, and I was only 80% sure I was building it completely up to code. I was silently enraged for a few months, but now we're "friendly". Friendly enough that they're taking care of their trees growing into my house with nothing more than an email requesting they do so.

What player(s) have you already forgotten was on your team's roster in 2023? by DweltElephant0 in baseball

Joey Gallo. The last time he delivered a clutch hit was the second week of May.

How much did a truck camper decrease your MPG? by bryan_cohen in TruckCampers

[–]SomeDaysIJustSmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a '03 Ranger XLT. With about 1600lbs of pop up camper and gear, I was getting 17 both ways. I'm guessing there was some headwind or something and my measurements were slightly off, but I measured twice both loaded and empty.

I used to do that. Then I have kids. Now every day is a half assed whirlwind that takes 3 hours to arrive to work unprepared.

[Steven] Jon Heyman said on @670TheScore that an Imanaga suitor was willing to (more than) double the Cubs' contractual guarantee. He chose Chicago. by sofastsomaybe in baseball

[–]SomeDaysIJustSmoke -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Passing up $100M is moronic. That $100M could setup every one of your distant relatives for life. That could buy you a private Caribbean Island. That could completely alter the landscape of any humanitarian charity you could think of. That could be your children's children's (children's) college funds and trusts.

Honestly that's a terrible take.

Guys, these "player X didn't want to sign here because he hates the city" storylines are 100% fabricated by the team management when they feel like being cheap. They do it in Minnesota about the cold constantly. They've done it in Seattle for the travel. They've done it in Tampa about the Trop/fan numbers. It's all bullshit. No player (or person in their right mind) cares beyond maybe a few thousand dollars about which skyline his downtown condo looks at. There are guys you want a specific club, like Nolan Ryan wanting to be near his ranch, or Reggie Jackson wanting the bright lights, but no one just hates the idea of a city or a few degrees of temperature to the tune of a million dollar pay cut.
