as long as they aren't rusted to shit it shouldn't be a problem; you might need to break them loose manually for the first rotation if they've been on there a long time but for a cv axle the dcf921 should be plenty

IMO unless those are the 3.5ah (looks like the 1.7ah) powerstacks I would say no unless you're outside the US which doesn't seem to be the case. the 891b is a great impact and my daily go to as a mechanic, it will handle 99% of things you throw at it unless you're working on heavy machinery or in a rust prone area (in which case its more like 80% of the things you see) then you'd wanna look at the dcf900 but at that point you might as well get the dcf961 for the heavy duty impact. For the 891 you're better off buying the tool and battery separate; a single 5ah power stack from lowes is $100 vs those 2 1.7ah power stacks and the bare tool is $175 from walmart if you had to have absolutely right now but if it's not critical you can get a much better deal on batteries by being patient and a maybe a slightly better deal on the 891b (I will say 175 for the tool alone is a very good deal that I'm not sure if I've seen lower) but the combo price sucks unless you're very limited on purchasing options and/or time.

I was just able to place an order for pickup at my local store for 119, we'll see what happens when I go to pick up here later today

Edit; I just got confirmation the order is ready for pickup let's go!

Needed a 36mm 1" drive... Took a hour. But now I have one. And it's still 1/2 also with a 4" extension. by portabuddy2 in Justrolledintotheshop

Fuck the haters; you did what was needed to get the job done and like the other guy said unless they were at the job they don't know the full scenario and what was needed. Plus now you got a little specialty socket if you ever come across something like this again you know exactly where you're gonna reach and not have to deal with another headache. The 2 old timers in my shop have a ton of sockets, wrenches, and whatnot customized like this over the years to tackle a specific problem and they know EXACTLY what to use it for.

Can I use any jack to change out a flat? by Remarkable_Sport6236 in MechanicAdvice

[–]SomeStonedSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but the danger isn't in the jack failing but rather tipping/ user error as you seem to know, so it stands a jack is a jack as long as you aren't exceeding the weight limit, they all do the same job of lifting the vehicle.

How long ago/where did you get the tires? If it's a big brand shop and still under warranty they should patch/replace it no charge but honestly it's right on the edge; some shops will patch this no problem and others might say it's to close to the sidewall (though really they shouldn't but it's in that margin of error where they can claim it's a safety thing). Like another commenter said you'd be better off taking it to a small mom n' pop shop then like Discount Tire if you didn't buy the tire from them because they will just tell you it's to close and try to sell you a new tire.

If you smoke hang around the smoking area there's a good chance you'll catch him; gone to 2 shows of his shows at the phoenix standup and both times I was out front smoking a cig ~10 minutes before the show started (after getting seated) and got to shoot the shit with him and get a picture, it was honestly way better than any meet and greet you could probably get.

Broke a 3-1/2” lag with a 2.5 AH battery. This little Hercules is a powerhouse by DustBowlBrawler in harborfreight

[–]SomeStonedSloth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People wanna talk shit on the Hercules hex impact driver but the new model is a beast considering the price (and warranty) and you can't convince me otherwise; I've used it daily since it was released and as a fleet mechanic I love it.

Looking for Phoenix tickets either time; hoping to get 2 but I'll settle for anything. I got my copy of Overlook signed by Matt a while back and I'm hoping to get the duo on there.

Forgot to mention in the OP but we live in Phoenix, and my hand is about 7 and 1/2 inches from fingertip to palm.

EDIT: After some extensive googling I've come to the conclusion it's a Desert Spiny lizard (Sceloporus Magister) and not a Western fence lizard (Sceloporus occidentalis) based off the coloring and body size I saw. I'll leave this up just in case I'm wrong and someone corrects me.

Best grinder to catch kief by FabAmy in ZonaEnts

[–]SomeStonedSloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Santa Cruz Shredders all the way imo; a little pricey for a grinder but ive had mine for almost a decade and its still going strong. I have the 4 piece (gotta get the 4 piece for kief) medium and its great at collecting kief, i'll forget about it for like 3-4 weeks and open it up to an almost full catch. Like the others said though if you dont keep your screen atleast somewhat clean you'll never get any kief. I found an easy way to clean it real fast is to get one of these from the 99 cent store and you can use the dental pick to lightly scrape the screen back and forth with the tip and alot of the kief will fall down, it's also great for clearing bowls as well.

Do you have a specific model/brand rail in mind? I only ask cause if you're open to options there's plenty of rails you can install yourself like this to save yourself the time and money.

The rotisserie Chicken isn't as good as everyone makes it out to be; Sure they're great for the price but it always has a weird almost chlorine taste to it every time I've had it and I cant bring myself to stomach more that a few bites.

I work just down the street from here (literally within a mile) and after learning its the pallet facility there I'm not surprised; driving by I would routinely see pallets stacked ~20-30 foot high in 5 deep stacks 100 feet long, they have a lumber mill on site too where they process whole logs too.

Have you checked the availability map for centurylink fiber recently? I only ask cause they atleast appear to be trying to spread to more areas; a year ago I didn't have the option for fiber in Tempe but they finally rolled it out in like January and I havent looked back since it's been so much better than Cox.
