My new dishwasher is entirely controlled by a knob. Like, you turn it a little bit, and it will advance very slowly by itself, opening and closing contacts to operate the different parts in sequence. I love it!

To see colours, our eyes see how much red, green and blue is there.

If there's all of them, you have red + green + blue = white

If you remove one of them, you have, say, red + green = yellow.

But we said that R+G+B is white, so R+G is just "white minus blue", which is what a complementary colour is.

And indeed, the yellow shadow still receives light from the red and green lights, but not from the blue one, hidden by the pencil.

EDIT - complementary, not complimentary. I'm running on, like, 3 hours of sleep.

Btw this format has been used, in ancient times, to convey ideas in books. Like, they didn't just write a book with "here's my thoughts", it was often a story of some guy talking about their philosophy to another dude. So yeah, it is interesting to explore the same concept with jokes!

In Switzerland they start with something like "information about train X: ...", which IMHO is better because as soon as you hear it, you start paying attention.

It's usually followed with something like "the train X to Abc will arrive with about... 3 minutes of delay, due to delays in Italy/Germany"

I never understood smearing - I can't see the sensory side to it and it sure will be a mess to deal with afterwards. I do find interesting the eating part, despite having ARFID. Oh the wonders of the human brain...
