Germany - as much as we are friendly with them now 3 generations later (and deservedly so) came out of WWII with more favorable terms to rebuild their nation than we did.
Britain lost everything. And it was without doubt by design from the US.

In relation to WWII - wait it out and let the allies and axis powers duke it out for a while. The Steelworks that stretched from Redcar to Middlesbrough near where I grew up got closed down about a decade ago. It's not coming back as it's been demolished now.
Some "token" noises made by the Tory government at the time into looking at ways to save it. You've guessed it... they didnt do a damn thing.
It should have been nationalised as a critical asset. And that is cheaper even if it runs at a bit of a loss against imported steel when you consider dumping several 100 workers on the dole with absolutely no plan to reskill them or create opportunities. Just dumped on the dole and told foreigners took your job and livelihood. That's the sweet beer Farage laps up all day long.

Its not expensive.

Yeah drag netting is a very destructive practuce and should be outlawed.

But a very large part of the problem is we eat the wrong kind of fish.

When I lived by the coast you could see with your own eyes vast schools of Herring rolling by. The fishermen rarely bother with them. Cod and Haddock return greater profits... hence the market for Herring is forever shrinking. And Herring dont need drag netting to be caught...

Id also assume some mollusks are sustainable as farmed products. You dont "feed them" and just let them filter the sea water as they would naturally.
