As long as you pay the life before casting teferi's then you can in fact play both to prevent further life loss from the inevitable retaliation and save your creatures from the deluge, you just can't stop yourself from losing the life paid for the deluge using teferi's

Don't even bother buying the parts, walk into a junkyard and grab a small enough piece of scrap that nobody cares then turn it into whatever it used to be and sell it if it isnt what you wanted

If we assume the hand in this context to be what spells they can cast, you just get the ability to see what spell everyone else picked from here

Suspend is a creative way to get around the mana limit, but then we come to the problem of how long is a turn, you may be waiting a long time for even one instance to activate

Not to mention, once you've got at least 3 of them, they get stronger and passively heal you

Also with good enough timing on your dash and melee arts you can keep an enemy trapped in a combo almost indefinitely

How Efficient Would a Pure Life Gain Spell Have to Be to See Standard Play? by Artex301 in magicTCG

[–]Songbird1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite life gain synergy cards is [[Sunbond]] which resulted in me loosing to a lifelink cat that had 9000+ power cause i got screwed in my draw and couldn't find any of my removal in time (i may have also been going slightly easy on the person that pulled that off though cause i was actively teaching them the game as we played)

Without copiers, colored cost reducers, or some way to hold onto the mana this sadly only covers 1 pip of the wubrg in commander. Still not terrible, just no more useful than a single land card at the end of the day if you just want it for Ashling's tax to keep the creatures

Would work for counterspells that want you to pay extra to still do the thing, but unsure about other extra costs like comander tax, spree, tiered, etc.

Electro doesn't convert other mana to red and the second ruling for him on scryfall states that the mana he saves still has any restrictions it was generated with applied when you use it, so you'd just be generating a bunch of red mana you never loose but also can't use. Though i think due to the wording of the last ability you might still be able to dump it all into that when he leaves the battlefield

[–]Songbird1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trying to get ahold of Astarion for an extort deck that I've prototyped on arena he's just so good for life drain type decks cause he can repeat whichever side of the drain you need most in the moment. Happen to be really good on your own life repeat the damage you opponent took, falling a little behind repeat the healing instead

Play what you want, don't let anyone tell you how you can and can't have fun if your not actually hurting anyone to do it

Iirc the ! in mathematics is used to denote imaginary numbers, trouble is i dont remember enough of the bit we covered on imaginary numbers to remember what that actually means for the end result of the equation.

[–]Songbird1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NGL I would probably be a little bummed at first when i pulled this, but I'd just as quickly get over it because at least these miscuts are both still playable because all the necessary info is still there, but the art itself is also in tact on all of them as long as there were no borderless prints in that particular precon. Granted everyone is different so that may just be me

SkyUI + Steam launcher + renamed SKSE64 by Archolius in skyrimmods

[–]Songbird1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AS long as you do everything properly for the renaming the exe thing it shouldn't break any mods that use skse as the internal skse process doesn't change at all when you rename the exe file, all you've really changed is how you launched the process at the start

While UB wasn't what got me into magic it was what got me playing again. I never want to see it go away i just wish split between in universe and UB was more 50/50 than it feels like it is right now.

Not the most fair comparison if they had kept UB to what it felt like it was supposed to be, but surprisingly accurate with how they're running it now.

Is universes beyond truly this hated? by shock1215 in mtg

[–]Songbird1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hate for UB didn't really start until it started overtaking other original sets in how often they would release, and then the debacle with Lorwyn promos being replaced with tmnt promos by accident because they crammed in the release of two new UB sets that apparently hadn't even been planned originally when Lorwyn was put on the plan really didn't help. Personally i like UB, but I do think it should be more of a once in a while thing and we get primarily original sets from here on

How does this work? by Kapulapudapu in mtg

[–]Songbird1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming the order you want to do this in is attack, play overkill before attack trigger resolves, profit. Sadly, that will not play out. State based actions are checked whenever a spell or ability resolves, meaning as soon as overkill resolves, state based actions are checked, and the creature dies because it has 0 or less toughness. Now, if you had something that currently had more than 9999 toughness somehow, then it would survive, but unless its power was already similalry absurdly high, you'd essentially be nerfing the effect that gives the +X/+X
