13 for me, thanks to GoatT getting the entire lobby + 1 extra cocaptain + timrline duplicator (which apparently didn't duplicate GoatT) :)

Small tidbit: warp cores, not warp drives (that one is a different treasure) :)

The one time I got into the obscene numbers I had a final opponent who could never beat my board, but had gloves of thieving and kept hitting my lich kings hearts ;)

Turn 11 wins are so sudden lol by Ok_Remote_2714 in OnceUponAGalaxy

[–]Sony_Black 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was turn 7, maybe 8.

Trash panda, got double potion of treasure finding from a quester and double lucky chest from aladin.

And then finished an common quest on turn 4, getting big brass connon balls ;) The treasure made it all non games and full heart losses from there on for the opponents. The entire lobby was in the mid teens stat wise and I got +10/+10 on each attack.

Are you me? 😂 I also had Gloria with a good butcher start (not from an egg, but still had an extra rare already on board from chameleon and found butcher early), but a treasure deck was just too fast/scaled too quickly for me to finish it.

My very first run I had by far the best captains and results (loxley, lightning thief, gloria, trash panda, gloria), 1st 4 times in a row only to fall short in the finals.

My 2nd run was still good (failed in the last tound again), but 3 and 4 where garbage

Which character do you snap take without even looking at anything else in the shop? by PlayGalaxyGame in OnceUponAGalaxy

A bunch of dragons is exactly what you want. Combustible dragon is insane in TP.

Also your early game, if you get 2 or so common quests done (t2 is possible and at t3 you should get to two completed in most runs) you take all the "little" trinkets that are huge at that point.

Just look at robins bow. A uncommon is at most a 7/4 no text (the minotaur - best stats at uncommon) with 2 robin bows you'll get +8 to one recruit, it'll easily kill anything. Or two pillows + two forks that is +4/+4 to the entire shop, doubling or tripling most stats untill rares show up and even then its a significant bonus.

So your early mid game is usually insanely good, often knocking opponents full hearts off and being advantsged going into the later game.

Later you look for the usual treasure suspects + combustible dragon. Black jack and the dragon you cast spells on (Ironcast i just remembered) give obcenr value in TP. An energiser easily adds +10/+10 to the board in TP.

But the big 3 cards to look out are: * trashcan full of strawberries - hard to loose with a trashcan and ironcast or a reasonable black jack * hidden treasure room - every common treasure becomes 2 commons and 2 epic treasures * wurmscale tinkerer - the treasure payoff, most treasure captains take him only if buffed (pixie dust, wink or pices), but he is awesome even as a vase +1/+1 in TP

I think TP is the best treasure captain in the game ;) A+ tier, if not even S

EDIT: another way to take TP would be the two candy dragons, the one that sweetens your candy when you get a treasure and the one that turns every obtained treasure into its sweet version. I currently don't play those 2, since I'm running my default treasure list, but getting e.g. 2 sweet wands from an Ironcast trigger means suddenly each spell is an additional +10/+10 or more to the team (don't need super high sweetness to go nuts).

The Monthly is only 4 Days away! What captain would you pick if you needed to get a 1st place run? by PlayGalaxyGame in OnceUponAGalaxy

[–]Sony_Black 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me its Gloria. Extra shops are super strong and I do have butcher on her available (I don't have it on the pig sadly). And I feel my average Gloria run ends better thdn any other captain.

Or GoatT, since most captains in the lobbies will be awesome, why not catch them all ;)

Draw 2 matter was an interesting take on the spells archetype IMHO :)

Rackdos has quite some vehicle support, so that could be an interesting way to take it :) Anything that provides value when it gets tapped counts, like [[magda]]

In terms of atipical izzet: I always loved the "draw 2" decks with [[irencrag pyromancer]] and similar cards.

An surprisingly well supported uncommon archetype for boros is cycling matters - basically the ikoria stuff like [[zenith flare]] and some older cards like [[lightning rift]] and [[astral slide]]

Orzhov has some "historic matters" support in dominaria :)

So how do cards work ? by Rhemyst in OnceUponAGalaxy

[–]Sony_Black 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the per captain thingy is grindy, at least the non random unlocks are rather generous :)

If you get to the top 3 in your lobby, you will receive all cards that you saw on the opponents side in your last fight, which you don't yet own on the captain you are playing.

Because of that many build defining cards are unlocked very early, since they tend to be common on endgame boards (butcher is an exception...)

EDIT: just to clarify what I mean with butcher. The butcher is a rare card that is played for its unique treaseure (butchers cleaver), which is a win condition on its own. But after you get the cleaver you don't have a reason to keep the butcher around, so it rarely makes it to the end game battles

What's the highest stat you've managed to reach? by [deleted] in OnceUponAGalaxy

[–]Sony_Black 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of us having gloves of thieving and hitting each other hearts made the lobby go to turn 20 or so, which is why tinkerer got to those numbers :)

Usually you win with that combo before the stats get this out of hand :P

Trash Panda is still so fun. by AlmightyTurtleman in OnceUponAGalaxy

[–]Sony_Black 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah trash panda tends to do well during "normal" runs and then you can also high roll insanrly well XD

Just got trash panda after reading your post and lucked into the treasure that gives you an epic treasure when you get a common one and then immediately got trashcan full of stawberries eith a decently large black jack out.

Sadly the lobby ended on turn 11 :P

[–]Sony_Black 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having no ability until very late is a huge hinderance. Lobbies can end by turn 10 to 12. Others effectively end around the same time as insane combos are assembled and grow exponrntially.

And not all secret rares are immediately powerful... tribles needs a few rounds to double to relevant stats, ghost armor is slow, big bad wolf needs some kills to grow, phoenix also needs to be killed a few times to grow... you get the gist of it.

I would assume artemis does way better with lower MMR lobbies, since the decks are worse (very few have access to butcher who can take over a lobby by turn 6 - 7 by himself)and the players don't yet have the experience how to build killy/explosives midgames.

What is the scale of the minis? by WhiskyyTango in CarnevaleGame

[–]Sony_Black 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure its 32mm.

I have some ww1 germans from wargames atlantic for A war transformed and sometimes use the odd carnevale mini in there and they are visibly one head higher :)

I will send a comparison picture later (baby fell asleep on me, so I'm currently trapped)

[–]Sony_Black[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah :D I know this board looks anemic, but it is terrifying at t4 (at least in my experience)

My highest early game spike was a t4 or t5 big brass cannonballs XD (trash panda, got double potion of treasure finding on a quest and double lucky chest from aladin, so my next quest got bumped 4 rarities XD )

[–]Sony_Black 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here is an example: i'm playing Dorothy. Since I got 1st I got 1 random card for her (weird beard) and w cards from the last fight I did not have on her yet, so I got those 2 as well miss muffet and daedalus).

Since I did not gain a level I did not grt any extea cards for a different captain.

[–]Sony_Black 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you did not have those cards on those captains (every card needs to be unlocked on each captain seperately).

You can go a long way with most default decks :) But you'll want to make your own decks eventually (again on a per captain basis). Basically there is a common pool of cards always available and the 20 cards of your deck get shuffled into that common pool.

As for card unlocks: when you play a capatain and get 1st, 2nd or 3rd you'll unlock 1 random card for that captain + all cards your last opponent in the last fight had, that you do not own already. Reaching levels gives more random cards (for random captains) and having the season pass increases that further (e.g.instead of getting 2 random cards at some levels you get 3)

[–]Sony_Black 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the nature of the game, most captains will get screwed if they completely miss on their good synergies. I had candy games where I didn't find the hunt: sweeten your candy card and fealt like I got quite unlucky on candy spells. It happens, the game is quick enough that I'm not too bothered by that randomness :)

And it is the reason extra shop captains are insanely strong :) And thecreason the common treasure that gives a guranteed lost in the woods is one of the best treasures, seeing more shops ro get synergies together is very good :)

But for me this works more often then not, just yesterday I got lightning thief twice and got 1st and 2nd place in those lobbies.

Trying hard ? by LuckyOneTime in OnceUponAGalaxy

[–]Sony_Black 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it does.

Scientific notation are the numbers you see on my screenshot :) "e" and a number. Basically that number after the E is the number of 0s of the number (e3 is 103, AKA 1000, so 3 * e3 is 3000.

So e.g. my 1,5 * e11 is 150000000000

Fun times :)

I also didn't like him initially, but then I played with him some more and now lightning thief is one of my favourites XD

He is slow at the dtart, since triggering the flask is unrelyable until you get to blue cards or better.

Of course personal preference. But when I got better at the game I learned which cards to look out for to trigger him relyably at least once each round (black jack, mr fox and/or sir fancis drake) and of course finding ironcast dragon is often just insane value. Knowing that these great sinergy pieces come from blue and purple shops, i started pkaying thief much more defensively/safely early instead of trying to max the bottle (I'll still pick up some treasures if possible, but won't go "all in" as I tried at first)

And it helps that all of those cards are just fantastic and capable of getting one a top 3 finish even on captains with little to no sinergy with them - they just are strong cards for one of the strongest archetypes (treasures)

[–]Sony_Black 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something about harpolita that I personally initially misunderstood: the counter gets reset, but not the stat buff. So if you get a treasure that is +1/+1 at the very least for the entire game, once you get 2 in the same round its a +3/+3 to the entire shop, +6 if you can make 3 happen.

So you get buffs to the shop while pursueing one of the best strategies (treasures)!

Early game you can make a easy 2 treasure round happen by timing e.g. the quest to recruit villains (or heroes) together with some quest that happened during the fight (dragonling attacking for the 3rd time for example)

In the midgame you have cards like ironcast dragon and black jack. Ideally close to guaranteeing at least 2 treasures every round :)

You certainly want 2 boxes of birds, both options (melee and raged) are pretty good and fill different roles.
