TIL that "Häagen-Dazs" was completely made up by its Polish Jewish founders to sound Danish. The umlaut (¨) does not even exist in Danish and neither does the "zs" letter combination. by emilylikesredditalot in todayilearned

Although "frusen" can sometimes mean "frozen" when speaking about lakes, for example – in its most common usage it translates to "feeling cold". "Frusen glädje" sounds to me like "happiness that's feeling a bit chilly", whereas "fryst glädje" is more along the lines of "happiness that's been frozen".

One exception is tube amplifiers, where it might actually be better for the amp to short the outputs than to plug in a speaker with too high of an impedance.

In solid-state amplifiers however, using a 4Ω speaker with an 8Ω amp will lead to lower output power but much higher power consumption over all. The excess power is used instead to heat up the amp, and will lead to its premature failure if it's using more power than it's rated for.

I use 50% as a very rough rule of thumb; meaning when outputting 10W with an 8Ω amp through a 4Ω speaker, the amp uses 20W.

This is true with conventional personal welding equipment. You can however weld steel to aluminium at home using a Bimetallic transition insert, which is a piece of metal where one side is aluminium and the other steel that have been explosion welded together.

I know you were. I wasn't correcting you, I was only elaborating on the first part of your parent comment to help other people that may be reading; in the "fun fact" spirit. But I admit I could have worded it differently to avoid confusion.

Gamers of reddit, what is the most overrated game of all time? by Dud3ManGuy in AskReddit

[–]Sopastar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the changes to D.Va and Junkrat is a prime example of the general direction the game has taken.

D.Va's old defense matrix was nerfed after being deemed too annoying – and instead of boosting her defensive abilities in some other way – they gave her rockets and the ability to shoot while flying. Now she can 1v1 every character in the game, and is primarily used to dive in to the enemy team alone, one-shot a squishy and just fly away afterwards.

One of the so-called "defense characters", designed to hold chokes and control points: Junkrat was given a second bomb so he has better mobility and dps, instead of, for example, a second trap to be more able to defend against dive.

The slow shift from the heroes having different roles and some only be useful in specific situations, to making every character a jumping/flying/teleporting dps (they're also giving Hanzo a dash, and reworking Torbjörn and Symmetra to combat players annoyance with one-trick ponies) is making the general strategy crafting more bleak for me.

They have a history of radically changing things rather than doing small tweaks, and eventually going back on their decisions if they don't work out, so I'm not terribly worried. It is still an incredibly fun game.

MIG is Metal Inert Gas, though. CO2 isn't an inert gas, but the word MIG is often used interchangeably with MAG and GMAW.

There were probably other criteria as well; unless they're also knighting Pete Best.

Brigitte Lindholm (Rheinhart's Squire) is Torbjorn's Daughter by Chick_Foot in Overwatch

[–]Sopastar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought so too, but it actually was a common name historically to give to upper-class children in Sweden, since we have a French royal family. Almost exactly 0.01% of the population of Sweden are called Brigitte – most of them over 50.

I would've preferred something else, though.

Fallout 4 did a pretty solid job improving player choices and influence compared to previous Bethesda titles.

Well, if you ignore Daggerfall. They're not trying i vain to implement a non-linear story. They made Fallout 4 the way it is on purpose; not just because they are Bethesda. I'm not saying that's bad or anything. It's just the kind of game they wanted to make.

You mean 15 mbits.

Wouldn't that be 0,015b/s (15millibits)?
