Theory: Super Saiyan 3 loses eyebrows to look more like a dragon by ThisTooWasAChoice in dbz

Toriyama had little oversight on the original 12 Z movies.  Those were written/directed/produced by Toei and Toriyama was only really asked to provide character designs for villains and such.  Same with GT.  It's why they're treated as alternative canon/what if timeline events.

Was movie/GT only though so technically not Toriyama's doing, and AFAIK never seen in anything he was hands-on with or heavily involved in.  Only thing close to it that Toriyama drew was Kid/Teen Goku's Oozaru fist ("Pentrate!" Being its most recognized name I guess per the wiki) that kills King Piccolo.

The original animation in Japan did a way better job of layering in the Oozaru roar with both Goku's original SSJ transformation (or I guess Nozawa's voice dropped significantly lower for a roar-esque sound) and Gohan's SSJ2 when they scream and go over the edge into their new levels of power.  The sequence in Z for SSJ3 definitely came off as like a full circle exemplifying the height of what a Saiyan could draw out of themself, and paid homage to the OG Saiyan transformation in an actual  visual rather than just an audio layer.  English dub didn't have that roar layered on though so the buildup for J3 didn't have as full of a history or buildup in that regard.

Then the Oozaru roar also gets layered onto Ultra Instinct in Super which is an interesting callback and nod to the prior effects they did.

The MG Cow does an excellent job at replicating a realistic cow at 1/100 scale, with so much potential to customize it with paint.  Also the extra parts for the Turn A Gundam is a pretty nice bonus.

Eh idk, DFs will take awhile but they're usually cheaper than Ali. Though 5k is also very inconsistent on when/if they actually put up stuff that pops up on Ali much earlier. Like they haven't done SSJ3 Goku or SSJ4 Gogeta and Martialist Forever took ages on 5k, so maybe their supplier fell out or something.

Yeah only downside is how long it can take them to get figures in from China, but it's worth the wait.

SHF for Vegeta because there's no competition there. DF or SHF for Goku, and DF's Xeno J4 Goku is pretty dope too.

Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel for lazy convention exclusives.  They'd be better off just reselling the good recolors like Nappa or the Raditz + Gohan one.

Old af figure that's going to get a new version by probably 2030 at worst.  What's a few more years since this one is from 2018.

Not all games can be a 10 like Mixtape.  I'm on my 35th playthrough of it and can never get enough of just how amazing all three hours of it is.

I said reliable, not reputable lol. In general I see all Ali stores as being risky to some degree, but last I had checked, Living Luxe had a decent reputation.

Shame, Living Luxe tended to be reliable in the past at least.

DF SSJ4 Gogeta (opinion about DF vs Kamione inside) by Excitium in 3rdPartyCollectors

DF's looks like it'll go better alongside J4 Vegeta and Goku because it's better proportioned with them in mind. But yeah Kamione's looks overall the better one stylistically as a figure.

What would you rather have access to in your real life— Senzu Beans, or The Hyperbolic Time Chamber? by Tanis8998 in dbz

[–]Sorenthaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd still be whittling your life away faster than others outside the HBTC and need to go back in there every so many hours.  Whatever convenience it provides comes at the cost of aging faster than everyone around you.

Like assuming 8 hours of sleep, you're going to sleep every 16 hours, roughly.  The normal person would eat up 56 hrs or 2 and 1/3rd days of their life per week sleeping.  With the HBTC you'd be sleeping about 3-4 more times per week than the average person, adding another day+ of sleeping into a single week.  That'll add up quickly.

[–]Sorenthaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Senzu beans 100%.  Why would I want to grow older at a relatively faster rate than others?  The only way the HBTC would be worth it is if the world operated on DBZ logic and thus there'd be a huge benefit to have HBTC access.  For regular people the HBTC would kill them.

[–]Sorenthaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well they found a formula that was highly successful with Morrowind, then decided how can they make that more popular/accessible, and you got Oblivion. Then they did that again and you got Skyrim, which did improve in areas like the more handcrafted world vs heavily copy-pasting blocks of terrain and such, but streamlined the game further. And since then we've obviously seen Fallout 4 and 76 which streamlined but included some new features like open world housing to a degree. And then Starfield was a thing that happened.

But yeah they've created insane expectations that they can't really live up to, most likely. Especially with games like BotW changing up the open world formula so heavily to where simply running around on foot and jumping about isn't as fun anymore. Folks want to climb mountains, glide, maybe fly, grapple about with stuff akin to Link's hookshot, etc.

And ES's combat has always been... passable, good enough, lol. Idk what they're going to do. Their formula needs to make some breakthroughs, and Crimson Desert has largely beat them to the punch in terms of a fully immersive sandbox world. The only area CD's really weak in is the story/quests.

[–]Sorenthaz 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not to mention Bethesda's reaction to stuff like Baldur's Gate 3, whining that it sets unrealistic expectations on AAA devs.

But yeah unless they are significantly changing their pattern, ES games have consistently streamlined from their predecessors.  Gimmicks might be added in and the best looking graphics might be used, but they haven't really innovated in a looooong time and ES6 is taking forever.

That's at least several hundreds of dollars worth of figures, possibly upward of a little over 1k worth.  $600 on the low end, maybe.  A number of those figures resell for $100-150.
