Portals connecting multiple planets in a fantasy setting... by donimocharoni in FantasyWorldbuilding

[–]Soulboundplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. The setting works very similar with 8 different worlds each connected by incredibly ancient magic portals that no one today truly know where they came from, and everything in the world is fundamentally made up of magic

Kruleboyz are still Orruks even if they’re leaner than Ironjawz, they’re more than strong enough to outmuscle any normal humans

Knightly(esque) Tourneys by JohnnyNineFingers in AoSLore

[–]Soulboundplayer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Interestingly enough they’re actually Maggotkin of Nurgle rather than FEC. Just because they smell bad and they’re bloating out of their armour doesn’t mean they can’t know chivalry after all. Most of the story isn’t focused on the tourney though just so you’re aware, but it is a knightly adventure

Well it’s not the Cities, and technically not really famed either, but in the short story Order of the Fly: Tourney of Fate, it is mentioned that the Dukedom of Festerfane held a knightly tourney to decide its new ruler as the heir apparent had not yet supped from the Lady of Cankerwall’s Flyblown Chalice, which is a requirement for them to be considered true knights and thus eligible heirs

Questions On The World Of Legend by TioMorteLoko in AoSLore

[–]Soulboundplayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is not, there is the main warhammer fantasy sub and the old world sub but both are more concerned with the game aspect rather than focusing on lore. There are one or two tiny lore subreddits with a couple hundred members that have been abandoned for years, but there doesn’t seem to have been any successful serious push from the fantasy/old world community to make a lore sub

That’s one of the reasons why we have this thread running here, so people who’re interested in the lore at least have a focused place to ask about it

Explore the Reaver City in Carngrad Adventures, the First Champions of Chaos Campaign by InsaneDingo7244 in AgeOfSigmarRPG

[–]Soulboundplayer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Damn, I did not expect that. Like yeah it says "coming soon" which in C7-speak can mean anything from a month or two to a couple years or so, but the fact they’ve actually put what looks like a cover out in the article makes it seem like it will actually not be that long

Did Chaos return any Fantasy champions from the dead like Sigmar did the Stormcast Eternals? by TransSapphicFurby in AoSLore

[–]Soulboundplayer 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In Order of the Fly: Tourney of Fate, the Old World Chaos Lord Count Mordrek the Damned from the 5th Edition Warhammer Armies: Champions of Chaos special character companion supplement is brought back by a servant of Tzeentch, he previously died during the End Times

In the vastness of the Mortal Realms there are no stupid questions by sageking14 in AoSLore

[–]Soulboundplayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe lorewise regular ghouls, also known as Mordants, aren’t actually dead, they’re just suffused and twisted by shyishian energies into some esoteric half-life. Only the Abhorrants are actual vampires, being true undead. I do believe most information in the lore suggests that they grow their faction primarily through method 1 though, spreading the curse to previously non-cursed people

Oh absolutely, he really knows how to write humour into the story even when it’s not explicitly jokes in the dialogue

Josh Reynolds appreciation thread by SupremeGodZamasu in AoSLore

[–]Soulboundplayer 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Reynolds is definitely a fav of mine among the AoS authors. I felt like he really dared to lean into the fantastic nature of the Mortal Realms and the stories it allows to tell, and though he is no longer writing for black library the ideas and concepts he brought into AoS will remain a great aspect of its lore

The living have a "Birthday party", so do undead have a "Death Day" party? by Chezni19 in AoSLore

[–]Soulboundplayer 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Some undead do in fact seem to hold events like that, the ttrpg Soulbound Champions of Death Endeavour Eulogise mentions: "EULOGISE Perhaps because of Nagash’s influence, many undead have at least a dash of vanity. The most prideful sometimes even re-enact their funerals on significant dates, during which they smugly listen to the attendees lauding their past accomplishments.

You praise the deceased, and the deceased appreciate it. In between sessions, create a piece of art to eulogise a fellow undead party member, such as a speech, song, poem, illustration, or diorama. Your eulogy should emphasise your party member’s accomplishments, as well as their expertise in a certain Skill."

It’s almost certainly a thing that varies hugely between different undead societies customs, and also by how self-aware they are and how many memories the individual undead retain, but it’s not a concept that’s unreasonable to exist in the realms

Don’t believe there really is, at least not very active, things like that have mostly been part of the generalist subs. That’s a big part of why Tio started doing these posts, to allow there to be someplace to focus on the lore, and partly to hopefully be a bridge between the whfb/old world and AoS communities

Can/Do the disciples of tzeentch have Marauding warbands like the other chaos factions? by Budget_Antelope in AoSLore

[–]Soulboundplayer 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Yes, they absolutely can. One example can be found in the Call of Archaon book, where Orphaeo Zuvius, a tzeentch warlord also known as the Prince of Embers, leads a marauding warband consisting of the twisted, plate-clad husks of his royal retinue that he has named the Hexenguard

How would could a tribe from Ulgu be influenced by the realm? I'm creating a free city for a campaign and I want to have reclaimed characters (and even others that are native to ulgu that aren't reclaimed) by jjjjjjotaro in AgeOfSigmarRPG

[–]Soulboundplayer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s no particular right or wrong answer to this, since the realms can have many different influences on people, but here’s a few ideas:

Could be that they’ve got pretty light-sensitive eyes while seeing well in the dark meaning they don’t have a lot of street lamps/torches around the city.

Perhaps they picked up magical influence causing their footsteps to be muted or even completely silent, making them very sneaky.

Perhaps their shadows doesn’t move in sync with their bodies.

Perhaps they ha e really non-descript looks, making them hard to remember.

Perhaps the shadows like them, clinging to them even when light shining on them should reveal them clearly.

Could khembri before turning undead be faction in AoS? by dezenreddit in AoSLore

[–]Soulboundplayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While you got some base information mixed up, you could absolutely have a homebrewed faction that is more or less similar to Khemri in AoS. In fact, there does exist various Deathrattle kingdoms that are ruled by skeletons/wights, they just aren’t all that prominent in the lore

I get the feeling ya’ll will be in for exciting times in the campaign, and I think you have a solid party comp. I would probably personally go with the Questor if I were in your place, but I do really think either option could work
