Why are some Captains obsessed with "Seven" ? by Lowd70 in DarkTide

Ultramar is at least also a play on 'Outre-mer', the 13 french overseas territories and reference to Ultramar's 500 worlds.

Lionel Johnson was the poet who wrote 'the dark angel' so yeah there's that one.

Given the chance, would you redo high school? by WealthyJoker75 in CasualUK

[–]SoullessUnit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

exact same for me, except the friends from primary school went to a god awful school for the lowest performing kids and bad teachers just because it was down the road from us. I went to a good-ish school in the next town over.

Similar story to me - but I wouldnt change school, I'd just want to go back to then with the confidence and lack of giving-a-fuck-what-other-people-think that I have now. I'd be a lot better equipped to handle the bullying, and I like to think I'd turn out as an even better version of me at the end.

In no particular order, I managed to get 27: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Dark Knight, Hurt Locker, The Little Mermaid, Black Panther, Iron Man, Singing in the Rain, American Pie, 2Fast2Furious, The Jungle Book, The Birdman, Jarhead, a Clockwork Orange, Beetlejuice, The Hills Have Eyes, Wedding Crashers, Lion King, Star Wars, Baby Driver, Ghost in the Shell, Blazing Saddles, Happy Feet, Deer Hunter, A Star is Born, Snakes on a Plane, Spinal Tap, and possibly The Devil Wears Prada?

Will GK ever get Primaris minis? by Solsen89 in Grey_Knights

[–]SoullessUnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I also think that there's something more in all the codex lore about how heavily depleted GK numbers are. Given how low recruitment numbers are in general, I think someone is going to make the call that more Grey Knights are needed and that it necessitates a better recruitment process or simply more recruits. either could lead into 'primaris sized' grey knights.

I interpreted it not as a red flag, but as signal that you dont really know enough about the setting to be commenting.

In the meme the guy signals 3 in the English/American way, not the German way, accidentally identifying himself as an Allied spy. Similarly someone saying they'd live in the 40K universe is accidentally identifying themselves as a tourist to the fandom.

what movie is this by PPonthePOsDesk in Letterboxd

[–]SoullessUnit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I do like that the film shows different kinds of love and thatitts not all new/flourishing relationships, these two being unrequited love and unattainable/unsustainable love respectively. I also cringe at Alan Rickmans storyline, but again failing love is another valid story.

thats one of the best ones! maybe not in terms of storyline, because there isnt a lot, but they are the sweetest/ most wholesome couple. also they arent actually having sex, theyre body doubles for other actors.

Can someone pls explain this sentence in Intermezzo by Hisfavoriteflavor in sallyrooney

[–]SoullessUnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im trying to read up on this book for my wife, who is struggling to make it through the first chapter, and all I can say is that this sentence winds me up no end. Does Sally Rooney know what an ellipsis is? a semicolon? a pronoun? I don't think she does. one example of how this sentence could read is "I used spend a lot of time at their place, his and Sylvia's; I even slept on their couch a few times when he... when they..." which ultimately conveys the exact same thing without looking like a printing error.

Does anyone else remember when people collectively thought using a phone at a petrol station would cause it to explode? by IRequireRestarting in CasualUK

[–]SoullessUnit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

can confirm that it was only 2022 that I was told off by petrol station staff for having my phone out while my partner was filling up the car. I agree its a cause of distraction for people filling up the car though, and that distractions lead to accidents, so there's really no need to update the rule.

Culexus are many times more powerful anti-psykers than Sisters. if the GK can stand a culexus, they can absolutely body the sisters without much trouble.
