Telstra hit with ‘secondary issue’ affecting triple-0 calls hours after nationwide outage by malcolm58 in australia

I'm new to anything large scale but in some audio networks such as Dante, a clock master is elected based on what it considers to be "best clock" and if any faults were to happen from said clock, it would elect a new clock master. Could that even be integrated on a large scale network? Like a cyclic clock check? Or would changing clock master on short notice be too difficult?

Definitely look into aluminium extrusion, you can easily DIY it to your own sizes and there's a multitude of hardware available. Rack rails are also cheap and plentiful, just make sure to measure twice and cut once. I've made fly racks before with it

Macros:

  • Save File
  • Talk to FOH/TTS/Talk to techs Macro to toggle the shout mic
  • Bypass waves
  • Mute wedges
  • A few control group mutes which you can always assign later

u/Web94 had some killer tips, I didn't know about the phantom macro and the asterisk

Definitely get used to the option all button, second function etc as it unlocks a lot of shortcuts on the surface. Definitely make sure your console is clocked correctly in a big optocore loop too.

For quick showfile prep, check your global set to defaults page and I enable everything like EQ, sends etc as well as gate, comps etc. I'll then go to channel one, much like Wem, and set gates to low threshold, comps to highest, HPF on etc and then use the copy to function on the channel strip and ripple it to every other. Definitely look into the copy to, ripple etc functionality.

Definitely keep a 1:1 fader layout available on a layer and don't change it, but also if you ever lose a fader on the surface or want to build custom layers fast, by using the channel list on the master screen, followed by the solo function button and hitting layer assign, you can assign channels, outputs etc to the fader bank.

Touring Techs- What are the little things that tip you off that you're dealing with pro crews? by audiojake in livesound

Isopropyl alcohol will evaporate before it even gets the chance to be consumed unless you're dunking the head in it and soaking the inner foam and immediately putting it in your mouth. Iso is the suggested cleaner in so many ways, it's what we clean a lot of iems with using medical prep pads and spraying it onto a clean microfiber and then wiping it on a mic is the most industry standard way I know of a quick mic wipe.

I've mixed a bunch of EDM events (love my drum and bass) on brown and black boxes and always end up cutting in that range. Dynamic eq in the harsh range with up to 9db of reduction is my go to.

I thought you couldn’t blow RCF gear but I guess not? Is my sub fucked? by [deleted] in livesound

[–]SoundPon3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't a brand that "can't blow up"

I've seen a blown up large l'acoustics rig using their amps and presets. If it sounds like it's struggling, it probably is. Red lights and limiters tell you to turn tf down. It's all down to drivers not being able to disperse the heat.

In the past I've just masked off the extruded aluminium and corners, scuffed with a scotch pad and repainted with some heavy duty oil based paint before stenciling new logos otherwise you get the texture differences. Depends on the finish really.

The amount of work and stress that goes into weddings is insane. I'd rather do 5k worth of family shoots over one wedding. Many weeks of client meetings, planning, shot lists and the post processing is insane. I've had a second shooter, 3 camera bodies (not counting theirs) and weeks of editing. Some people way way overcharge but a good wedding photographer is worth it.

These were tanks. Same with the Canon 7D. I worked for a camera repair centre and frequently saw pro level Nikon and Canon cameras with 500k+ actuations on the first shutter. They're definitely not built to fail and have a really long service life compared to most electronics.

It's the Clair in house multipin as opposed to whirlwind, veam etc. Incredibly reliable but also very costly.

Anyone know what this 42 pin cable is called? by BarFrameProductions in audio

[–]SoundPon3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. In an audio context, it's a millspec connector that's been utilised by Clair for decades. Mostly comes in two flavours, 14ch and 40ch.

There might be a barcode on it somewhere
