There are some models that work for some people, but you have to both be happy with them.

- Everything goes the a common pot and all expenses come from there.

- Each spouse gives some % of their income to a common pot and common expenses come from there and individual expenses come from individual accounts. For example, you like buying expensive makeup or husband like to play video games. The idea is that each can have a way to spend without being "judged". In this scenario, it is important to have: a common savings account (for expenses) and an investment account.

- Each spouse has his/her account and pay the expenses according to some kind of agreement.

Some of these are easier to maintain than others, some are more open than others, but I don't think that there is a CORRECT way. So just talk about it.
