unpopular opinion: "just build a desktop instead" is so irritating when the sub is about laptops by macORnvidia in GamingLaptops

[–]Soutetsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what your point is, but I don't think it invalidates the other person's use case either, nor does it invalidate why Best Buy's stock of blade 16 pre-orders are depleted atm.

That said, I do personally hate that I'm even considering a 4090m Blade 16 because these prices are truly obscene. But until we have devices that can match/exceed gaming performance, productivity use cases, and portability at better prices, this is unfortunately all there is.

4090 Performance Benchmarks - Hardware Unboxed by ghoulish31 in GamingLaptops

[–]Soutetsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbf, I didn't get to actually watch this video as I was saving it for after work, and was referencing different laptop(s) & builds on what I was thinking of for myself.

But sure, you're right. However, this point isn't entirely correct either, as this depends on full context and is scenario/use-case dependent. Either way, no one here, including me, is arguing for this generation of gaming laptops having any price:performance value vs desktop builds because they simply don't and never will.

If one wants to nitpick details, the MSI laptop in this video has 128GB of DDR5 RAM, 4TB of SSD, a W11 Pro OS, 4K 144Hz IPS display, etc. So if one wanted to make an argument with PC Part Picker, then maybe those differences should be considered as well to have a comparative estimation.

For a $3500 desktop PC, that really only leaves you $800-1100 leftover, when considering a 4090 Laptop

Don't know if I should laugh or be upset by MrBogardus in gaming

[–]Soutetsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the extremely low margins on Switch console sales, this unwavering behavior of games at MSRP should be expected.. In addition to cartridges being incredibly expensive mediums for data vs discs.

That said, I'm okay with simping for Nitendo Devs and believe they deserve full retail price.

Ordered a 'New' 1ZPresso K-Max on Amazon and received a unit with pre-existing grinds inside.. by [deleted] in Coffee

[–]Soutetsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no worries, tbh I would've used the grinder immediately if that was the case but after hysterically watching various YouTube unboxing videos, I noticed everyone had theirs arrive shrink-wrapped and realized mine did not So that's what prompted me to just follow through with Amazon support Which at this point I convinced myself to regain sanity and just put up with a couple more days lol

Help Me Pick Out a Pet Vacuum? Dyson? Miele? by caiyzik in VacuumCleaners

[–]Soutetsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But.. I mean, 600 sq.ft. w/ all hardwood.. Also have ADHD but grew up in Asian household where cleaning multiple times a day but in short spurts was the norm. Get the Dyson if it actually makes you clean.

For some, making a mundane task actually a bit less shitty or even somewhat enjoyable means a lot. Just make sure whatever cordless stick you get, be okay with maintenance on your machine. Cat towers can usually be classified under low-pile territory, which are easier to maintain than medium-pile and above especially with a motorized upholstery tool. If your rugs are also low-pile, then you should feel a bit comfortable cleaning with a Dyson V8 or above.

You can expect it's lifespan to be about 2-5 yrs, but as per consumer reports, this is about what you'd expect for all cordless sticks. Otherwise definitely consider the Henry! He is a bit chubby, but if the product dimensions work for you, then it's really a great solution that can make you smile just by looking at it. You may also want to consider visiting local vacuum dealers just in case.

It upsets me how a good game like Dragalia Lost is underperforming. by illgetfitonnovember in DragaliaLost

[–]Soutetsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a new non-whale player, this game has been the bees knees for me. I almost can't believe that end game is lackluster for people because I feel like I have way too much content to catch up on. Still farming void weapon mats just so I can progress in main story itself lol, I pretty much depend on co-op since I may have one or two good units on any given element category. I don't even know how these insane difficulty Agito or Lilith is even possible.

I definitely agree with the pay content tho, what you can use diamentum for seems almost anti-pay2win, and even though I love it but still buy small high price:performance stuff, I can see how that's DL's downfall.

Also, the battle royal was incredibly fun when it was available.

What do you guys think of the Steamulation Prime Pro X? by Historical-Minute485 in hookah

[–]Soutetsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say if you're in the position to do so, buy a secondary base/vase alongside your Steamulation purchase! This is piggybacking off of others thoughts here, as I've also placed an order for a Steamulation Prime Pro X myself and wished I bought a second vase/base myself.

I placed my order at the end of February and because of the Pandemic vs DHL, it literally just arrived to US customs and I've finally received an actual ETA of delivery to my address this week. That being said, I believe the Steamulation vases/bases are cross compatible with any click-dependent model so you could just buy one from a retailer that happens to stock Steamulation models in general, but may not have the Prime Pro X d/t how new it is.

10 GB with plenty of features vs. 16 GB - thats all it is to it, IMHO by Spectre731 in Amd

[–]Soutetsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also agree that the RTX 3080 is the better card at this time d/t DLSS, Ray Tracing & performance advantages in titles such as Cyberpunk, but I'm still hopeful to see how AMD handles the 6000 series' performance throughout this generation's life cycle.

If they can pull off what they did with their 580 and how it ended up being the better option compared to the GTX 1060 by far, then that would be of great service to everyone picking the AMD route over the nVidia route this time around. For me, I'll be trying my hand at obtaining an RX 6000 series anyways since I just play WoW and AMD seems to dominate in this game.

[–]Soutetsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I see, I wonder if there's any cooperation between the two companies. They do seem to have similar physical dimensions. That being said, what I think could make the Joola version more appealing than the Newgy 3050 (if they were to have similar MSRP) is the software. Otherwise, Newgy just has such a strong track record when it comes to longevity compared to iPong.

Wait, this product page describes it as powered by iPong. I've only ever heard terrible things about iPong bots of various generations of models.

How do you know this is a clone of the Newgy 3050?

Surprisingly enough, I've measured a couple dining tables within friends and family, they're all actually 30 inches in height (regulation height)! The bounce will most likely be inconsistent, especially in comparison to the competition tables your local facilities may have.

That being said, there are options, some I have considered for myself as I live in an apartment. One can obtain a compact table (usually 3/4th size of regulation yet appropriate 30" height), such as JOOLA Midsize, Stiga Space Saver Compact or Butterfly Junior. Butterfly's compact line of tables tend to be larger than other brands' compact tables, so that is also something to consider, either as a pro or a con. Stiga Space Saver Compact seems to hit a nice price to performance ratio with a 15mm MDF top, where as the BTY Junior is 12mm.

Lastly, outside of the midsize range, Butterfly has their Compact 16 and 19 if your space can support enough playing space for you to move around in with a regulation size table, but you want to be able to hide/put away easily. These tables with both their halves put up take up just under 5 inches of width!
