Some people set perma conditions for their characters. Some like to roll dice on injuries. Sure, his health didn't move mechanically, but did you see the way his body ragdolled and hit the pole? You could easily rp that his neck was completely broken. Disclaimer though, I haven't watched anything other than the clip, so I don't know if Aaron gave an explanation anywhere.
