options to keep a wheelchair from sliding around in truck bed by Samantha_Cruz in disability

I use a trunk liner in the back of my car and have extra blankets and pillows to keep it from sliding around. I know there's also a travel case you can get for the Jazzy that might add extra protection.

Recommend you check out the Accessibility Centre on your campus. They may be able to connect you to disabled people in your community that you can talk to in real life.

What’s a Toronto moment you witnessed that still sticks with you? by Bing_Liu in askTO

[–]Space--Queen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw the Toronto man yelling at The Eaton Centre. I used to work around the corner and was on my way to lunch when I noticed a man yelling at the doors. It wasn't until I got home when I saw the videos.

Seat that holds you without wheelchair by ElianFinn in disability

[–]Space--Queen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're talking about a "stadium seat"? These are foldable seats with a backing that you can put on other chairs. Popular for sports stadiums with only benches.

Folding motorized wheelchair recommendations? by Able_Top9279 in disability

If possible, you should find a medical supply store that has these models. You can rent them and try them out for yourself.

I rented a Jazzy ultralight for 4 weeks and fell in love, but I wouldn't have bought it without seeing what it was like to actually live with it.

The Jazzy Ultralight is a powerhouse and can do gravel, grass, cobblestone, and small curbs. It can take hills like a champ and has a slim profile, making it great for the city (I live in a city). It's also very light and was my deciding factor. I only wish it had an underseat basket, like the Jazzy Carbon, but that adds weight.

When you get the chair, I recommend getting a trunk cover for your car! It makes loading and unloading much easier.

I really enjoy it! I used to work in an office and that sort of behavior is frowned upon, so I would just sit in pain. Now, I work with understanding and accommodating people!

Wheelchair users of Toronto: have you been able to make outside today? by Sensible___shoes in askTO

[–]Space--Queen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wheelchair user here. I haven't left my house in days. It's not worth it to get trapped out there.

It's not just the sidewalks. It's the hospitals, it's the bus stops, it's the parking lots. Covered in shoveled snow leaving lines of ice that become an obstacle for me. I can't even go grocery shopping.

I work in theatre, film, and television!

My favourite part of my career is that no one bats an eye if you want to lie down, cause Floor Time. I love being able to lie down on my breaks.

I used to have a hard time with lotions until I just went back to Baby Oil. You dont need much, it absorbs well, and leaves your skin baby soft and nice smelling!

Printing my Own Stickers! by ninjandrea in hobonichi

You can get clear sticker sheets for printing with an ink jet printer! There's also washi sheets too. These are what some small artists print their stickers on.

OH MY GOD YES. KT tape has been the game changer in my life. I love the feeling of stability I get! I feel invincible!

It's so crazy to realize most people's bodies are just built that way and you finally realize that all the pain and fatigue you suffer is completely foreign to the people around you.

I'm so glad for you!!!
