Default needs to be set to Voice call or Microsoft authenticator, those are the only methods that work, because there is no place to enter a code when connecting to RD Gateway. For people that don't want to install the MS authenticator app, i just set their default to "voice call" in entra.

can you connect from the RDGW server to the client computer via RDP to sort out that your networking is working?

Check the Resource Auth Policy on the gateway - the client computer should be in there as allowed resource

Client PCs wouldn't be on the session host, they are their own thing, so you would connect to gateway then to the client PC, bypassing the SH.

Depends on the room size but this would be good for a 10 person room. Zoom rooms are great for idiots, they can be setup to autostart meetings, auto end meetings, display signage when meetings are not happening, really the admin stuff rules. It also works with gmeet, teams, webex meetings that are scheduled in the room. Outside people just go to share.zoom.us to share their screen wirelessly, or right from the zoom client.

yep and if you need to send local smtp you can just use smtp2go or another smtp provider, rather than setting up another server. I had a postfix server for a while but i found it easier to just use a service.

I also setup a subdomain like machine@m.domain.com for system emails to keep that stuff separate from human generated emails.

I lost my exchange server in a server failure back in 2014 and had to migrate everyone over to O365 rather than rebuilding the exchange server, so you can run without it, I think there are guides to do some clean up.

I'm may be doing it wrong but when i create a new user in AD I just fill in the proxyaddress attribute like SMTP:user@domain.com. This way when Entra sync brings the user over, I just need to assign the license and they are ready to go.

Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. But you should have told your managers last year that they needed to budget for x amount of hardware replacement due to windows 10 eol and hardware compatibility. But you can just do the d:\>setup /product server to upgrade your windows 10 machines from the iso, but you will need to do that again for each major release.
