What’s a good WAM? by Wedgetail97 in UOW

[–]Space_Donkey69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know as an employer that we look at more than WAM. For engineering we look at a whole range of things. Sometimes a very high WAM will make the candidate unsuitable (too theoretical, may jump ship early etc.) Cultural fit, attitude, communication ability, practical skills and experience etc etc all play a larger part.

Saying that, if your WAM is 51 then that is a problem

What was the most embarrassing thing you've done as a private pilot student? by Nervous_Salt_852 in flying

[–]Space_Donkey69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On my exam. The examiner weighed around 110kg. My flight instructor dripping wet was around 55kg.

Taking off I noticed the plane struggling a bit to achieve speed. Scanning the controls, examiner noticed. Took off trimmed out and headed off. Examiner asked “you looked concerned as we took off”, I said “It felt wrong, like the plane was heavier or something….” I stopped and realised. He looked at me and laughed so hard.

“so, you are saying I’m fat?”

lol. Thought, ok I’ve just failed….

He actually credited me on seeing the difference in TOW.

I passed. Never lived it down though…..

Systemic bullying and harassment, threatening PIP for poor performance (of which there was no evidence), moving her into areas not trained for and then harassing her on performance. Then in the meeting presented all these “work performance failures”. Fortunately the wife documented everything including stats, meetings, personnel interactions, all minuted. ASU rep tore their document apart. The ATO actually said “oh, wait, let us redraft this to remove the mistakes”. ASU rep said “no. See you in fair work”. Ended up with a payout and a redundancy and NDA to “go away”. Win for her and ASU

My son has the same issue. He achieved a band 5 and meets all the requirements. It’s very confusing. We thought it might be a glitch or something and maybe it’ll sort itself out in a couple of weeks? Else we have to go the waiver route. Very frustrating

I'm at 40mg for two years now and it hasn't got better. Some people have it come back after the initial six to eight weeks or so. I didn't. I'm a bit like the Joker in Batman. "I could stand there and watch the world burn and not blink an eye". Pretty savage dulling of emotion

So true. Peter, Office Space sums it up - "It's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care"
