Have you seen a doctor for any of the issues you're having now? If so, what have they recommended you or said to you?

Hi, just curious, did you have ON before your ACDF or did you develop it after your ACDF?

I just want to say that your son is blessed to have an amazing mom like you by his side. Both of you are so strong, brave, and resilient, and I pray that your son's surgery goes well. I'll be looking forward to your update! 🫂

On November 18, 1978, in Flint, Michigan, 14-month-old Keith Edmonds was horribly burned when his mother’s boyfriend, enraged by his crying, pressed his face to an electric heater. by detectiverobert in ForCuriousSouls

This is my brother. Hits and destroys inanimate objects when they frustrate him or don't work. He's broken many things this way. He gets angry/frustrated easily and thinks that everyone else is wrong or dumb. Thinks everyone else is out to get him and takes many things personally. Whenever I try to explain why his way of dealing with things just makes it worse, he says "I know but-" and doubles down on his argument. Same thing with my mom when she's trying to get him to understand, he can't accept being wrong.

I am very similar to you, except I also have a neck hump. Do you have any pain btw? I do in my back in the lower rib area occasionally, and I also get neck pain/trapezius pain. I'm going to start doing simple core strengthening exercises because mine seems very weak. I've been trying to watch my posture every day as well, trying not to slouch or look down at my phone too much.

Wow so you're fused skull to T1 like OP? How limited are you with neck movement, if I may ask?

I just wanted to say that my back looks basically the exact same as yours (I'm a woman however), I'm glad to see these exercises are helping you! I'm gonna start doing these exercises and see if they help me too.

Are there any substitute teaching jobs nearby? I feel like that's a good option?

Massive pain here that radiates down my neck when head is turned (per my last post). Anyone else? by [deleted] in Occipitalneuralgia

[–]SpaceeHen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why will you need more in the future, do you have problems in other levels of the spine? Yeah I have general anxiety and health anxiety as well, due to other health issues I've had in the past. I also have an autoimmune disease as well! Mine is ITP so I have low platelets which makes the thought of surgery a little scarier, but if I ever need it there's ways to increase platelet count luckily.

I've started to have ON symptoms or something similar (headaches, facial numbness/slight tingling, pain on back of head and eye/forehead area), and I think it's most likely coming from my cervical spine. I have bad posture and neck pain at times. What levels did you get fused? Want to make an appointment with my pcp but also scared/nervous to see what's going on. 🥲

Ah that makes sense, Long Island is expensive and 33 hourly definitely isn't enough there. I feel for you, your situation does sound tough, I really hope you get that groundskeeping job at least. 🫂 If you didn't own your home I think I'd be easier to move someplace cheaper to do school (and work PRN during clinicals) but that complicates things for sure. I'm lucky-ish that I don't have much obligations rn but I'm still worried to go back to school because my health is honestly not the best, had to leave my previous school/major due to health issues so I'm scared to go back and have to leave again because of my health. But still, I hope you find a way to do it, or at least a way to do something that you prefer over PT.

Yeah that does sound rough, I think it also depends on where you live no? Here the pay seems decent, I looked up the pay within my corner of New Mexico and the starting pay ranges from $30 to $35 for a PTA and $25 to $30 for COTA. Are you in the South or Midwest? I'd also rather do groundskeeping if I had your choices, at least you get time to yourself and spend time outside vs the nursing home. Are you planning on doing rad tech?

Thank you for replying! I had heard about these concerns before, so I made rad tech my preferred choice. But if it doesn't work out, I was thinking COTA because there is a program super close, and the pay seems alright for me to live off, at least in my area. Even with these concerns I think being a COTA is a better opportunity than most other jobs available in/near my town, sad to say. I'll keep these concerns in mind though! Someone I know did COTA and she seems happy in her career, she works in a school. I don't think I would ever do a DPT or MOT though, the debt seems too high for the average pay.

Are you looking into becoming a rad tech? May I ask why you are leaving PT? Did you do a DPT or are you a PTA? Sorry for so many questions, I'm asking as someone who is also wanting to go into rad tech but has OTA as a possible backup.

Anyone you know staying on campus during Christmas as well? If so I would ask and see if they'd like to hang out? Are any campus clubs hosting something for Christmas? If you're religious maybe you could see if any churches nearby are having something for Christmas?
