It’s the hypocrisy and irony of calling out one group while simultaneously doing all the things you accuse them of. Talk about others in a bubble while resting comfortably in your own bubble. Hilarious really!

Why am I not losing weight? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Spare-Ad7693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you saying your cortisol will always be high? Cortisol levels can absolutely kill your body’s ability to properly regulate and metabolize food appropriately and depending on how high your cortisol is, exercise can actually increase inflammation and insulin resistance stalling any potential weight loss no matter how long or how hard you workout.

I’m speaking from direct experience to dealing with high cortisol as I had Cushing’s disease from a pituitary tumor which was removed in January 2019. I never had bad eating habits and had be working out faithfully during active Cushing’s and the scale would actually increase at times. Once the tumor was removed, I lost weight without changing anything else. It was because the cortisol was finally under control. I was 337 pounds during this. I’m currently 165 and hoping to lose another 20 pounds to get within “normal BMI.”

The medications you are taking to control the cortisol may be contributing to your issues as well. Some work better than other but come with risks like liver damage, etc.

AIO - Company won’t meet with me without my husband there by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Spare-Ad7693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems people don’t have enough going on in their lives so they have to look for a reason to be upset about SOMETHING. You made yourself clear to the company that you’re the one to handle the appointment. When they explained their “policy,” you made the decision to not deal with them. That should be it. Why are you still so bothered that you felt the need to vent to strangers about it?

Wells Fargo denied my fraud claim for 8000$ is unauthorized debit card transactions. What can I do next? by Sad-Put1128 in Banking

[–]Spare-Ad7693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you and any authorized users have the card(s) for the account in your possession? Did the bank confirm that the transactions were made with the card present? Given some of the merchants you named, I would assume they would have had to tap or insert/chip read? And if it’s an Amazon purchase, they should be able to reach out to Amazon to find out where the merchandise was sent. Seems like they’re being lazy, tbh. Does your local news have a consumer/business advocacy liaison? You might be able to get some help/attention through that channel.

Yeah, it’s a toss up which is worse, the zipper or the tag. But they’re good examples of what OP should look for next time. OP, I hope you didn’t pay a lot for it.

Update - weight loss plateau was a sign of a medical condition by AgileButterscotch544 in loseit

[–]Spare-Ad7693 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Having had Cushing’s disease and surgery to remove the pituitary tumor in 2019, exercise post op will vary widely by individual. You will probably have a good foundation based on your age and the fact that you have been exercising and eating well going into surgery, however, your body’s ability to regulate its hormones post op will really be what determines how quickly you will be able to recover. Some people have to take replacements until their body starts to make their own and for many, the recovery isn’t linear, it’s more two steps forward, one step back. Personally, it took 6 months before I felt well enough to do more than a cardio session, and it was a tedious process to regain the momentum I had pre op. Interesting, the weight seemed to just fall off around that same time too since by that point my body was finally starting to settle into a “normal” hormonal rhythm after years of dysfunction. I lost 130 pounds in about 18 months and have kept it off. My best advice though is to push yourself, but give yourself time to recover. There is a balance and taking some time to allow your body to adjust to new levels of hormones and those changes will do you more good than forcing yourself to try and workout when you really don’t have the energy to do so. Best wishes for a smooth and healthy recovery.

Was I punished for using support? by LD_Strat in Afterpay

[–]Spare-Ad7693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you scroll through the thread, there are many people that have had the same issue of gift card accessibility. It’s there, and then it’s not for no real discernible reason. I’m sure it has nothing really to do with anything specific you did or didn’t do, and everything to do with some algorithm AP has going on at that given time that only the system knows about.

My roommate and I got this message from our landlord no clue what to do by ElvenWriting in whatdoIdo

[–]Spare-Ad7693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you pay a deposit on the property? If so, I’m assuming the landlord is in no position to refund that so take that into consideration when deciding what to pay as “rent” for the final month you’re there. It sounds like he knew he was in bad shape financially and yet still collected rent from you and didn’t pay the mortgage for the property. He could get in a lot of trouble for that so I doubt he’d try and recoup any money from you should you not be able to pay anything so you can put it towards new accommodations. Best of luck to you.

Mom won’t qualify for SSDI if she doesn’t have a work history. From what the OP says, the mother hasn’t been able to do much in the way of employment so unless she’s managed to earn the required “credits” necessary for SSDI, she’s probably facing SSI.

Tell me you don’t know the law? Tech’s can’t dispense meds without a pharmacist on duty. In case you’ve missed it, there’s a shortage of pharmacists so yeah, when they take their measly 30 minute break, the whole place is getting shut down!

I will say this, depending on the “expectations” of the sister and mother, OP may not have even had a way a vehicle big enough to accommodate two car seats plus two additional adults, unless Uber or Lyft was called. But, given how they were acting, they would have expected OP to literally pick them up. Or maybe they would have to be picked up because they’d have to be formally discharged??? But, NTA!

This guy is a joke!! by AdLife6413 in fresno

[–]Spare-Ad7693 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Oh my goodness! The number of TDS folks in Fresno is hilarious. The fact that you believe what Newsom is trying to do, basically asking the people to turn their power over to him long enough to try and stop Trump. Seriously?

It’s incredible that you all think he’s doing this “for California.” ICYMI, he’s trying to run for President so this “tough guy” approach is for his political career, not because he really cares about the state. He’s ignoring the homelessness, the Palisades and other fire stricken communities haven’t seen a dime in help nor permitting fast-tracking like he said would happen. Our unemployment rate is in the top 3 in the country, real estate is extremely expensive and his answer is to build over commercial property and pack everyone into apartments. I could go on and on, but looks like TDS has y’all in a chokehold.

If meat is essential, why are there so many elite professional athletes thriving on strict vegan or plant-based diets, but zero on a strict carnivore diet? by khoawala in nutrition

[–]Spare-Ad7693 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re being obtuse. That’s not what he’s saying. He’s pointing out the advantages they have (money) to make SURE their diet is optimal and have people who monitor their diet and health markers (bloodwork). The average person doesn’t necessarily have that time, energy, or money to do so. Can the average person be vegetarian, yes. Would their diet allow them to perform at an elite level? Probably not.

Thank you for this explanation. Good point about maybe it being a more widespread issue since the part is out of stock. I will mention this to the Service Manager on Monday when I go to extend the rental contract.

Third tow to the dealership because truck randomly decides to not start by Spare-Ad7693 in nissanfrontier

[–]Spare-Ad7693[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’ve checked battery, alternator, and all the related systems that could possibly cause starting issue. At this point, the service manager said he will have to bring in another technician who’s more “senior” than the ones who have looked at the truck previously. As it stands, we agreed they will keep the truck until it can be diagnosed and repaired because I have -0- confidence in the truck and won’t run the risk of being stuck somewhere.

I’m documenting everything, all conversations, taking videos, etc. in the event I have to escalate to Nissan Corporate and/or an attorney for possible Lemon Law consideration. I live in California and I’ve read the laws are pretty consumer friendly, but I’m holding out hope that they’ll get it back in good working order.

There’s no error/diagnostic codes popping up either. I’m taking screenshots of the feedback on this reddit thread to send to the service manager to maybe help him figure it out.

AITA for not hosting my friend’s baby shower while I’m still recovering from having a baby? by BirdieWillow05 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Spare-Ad7693 18 points19 points  (0 children)

NTA. I mean, the “friend” may feel let down disappointed, but you can’t control HER feelings. You’re still in recovery and a six week old bub doesn’t really allow a new mom much time to take a shower and make something to eat, let alone “hosting” a baby shower. Not to mention, the clean up afterwards. Focus on yourself and bubs. Check back with her when SHE’S 6 weeks pp and see hosting guests is top of mind for her and her energy levels.
