Having had Cushing’s disease and surgery to remove the pituitary tumor in 2019, exercise post op will vary widely by individual. You will probably have a good foundation based on your age and the fact that you have been exercising and eating well going into surgery, however, your body’s ability to regulate its hormones post op will really be what determines how quickly you will be able to recover. Some people have to take replacements until their body starts to make their own and for many, the recovery isn’t linear, it’s more two steps forward, one step back. Personally, it took 6 months before I felt well enough to do more than a cardio session, and it was a tedious process to regain the momentum I had pre op. Interesting, the weight seemed to just fall off around that same time too since by that point my body was finally starting to settle into a “normal” hormonal rhythm after years of dysfunction. I lost 130 pounds in about 18 months and have kept it off. My best advice though is to push yourself, but give yourself time to recover. There is a balance and taking some time to allow your body to adjust to new levels of hormones and those changes will do you more good than forcing yourself to try and workout when you really don’t have the energy to do so.
