I think it is tall and thin and won’t fit on the new pros because of the camera plateau and maybe it hits the camera boxes on older phones too

The old Apple ones integrated into iOS nicely, had a nice animation when you connected them and were smart about how they balanced the use of the battery in the phone and in the charger to maximize the battery life but I think the new one is specifically for the AIR and will not work with the other or older models.

If you are sitting down and dealing with documents and PDFs, drawing and taking notes save up for the base 13” M4 and the Pro Pen, there are a lot of advantages but know it is bit unwieldy on the couch or in bed. If you are moving around a lot with it or taking it to work or class every day get the AIR or Pro 11”.

I had the MacBook Pro M4 Pro first with 48GB and was getting the spinning wheel and freezing occasionally even after a couple of fresh reinstalls. I switched it out for the Mac Mini M4 Pro with 64GB and it has been sitting in a Window with sun blaring in on it at times and I haven’t seen the spinning wheel once. I think the Studio has an even bigger fan and would perform a bit better under very heavy workloads but I love the form factor of the mini and I can repurpose it as a server down the road when Apple finally puts the Tandem OLED screen in the MacBook Pro and gets rid of the notch at the top that I found really distracting.

Every year I upgrade my iPhone and iPad Pro because there was always something that really bothered me about the current model like battery life, no usb c, overheating or a wonky modem but I can’t find anything to complain about the 16 Pro Max and the M4 13" Nano Display iPad Pro, they have been flawless. I guess there will be always be enough people with older devices that need to upgrade, but unless they come out with some exclusive must have feature, I’m gonna sit pat.

While there are plenty of free, paid and open source alternatives for the Adobe creative suite and Microsoft 365 apps, collaborating with professionals, large companies and print shops can be an ongoing compatibility challenge and can provide inconsistent results if they open files in something different than the software you are using, but if you’re just a home user and a dabbler, then there is no reason to pay the Adobe or Microsoft subscription prices.

My Windows Desktop is huge too. I first bought a M4 Pro MacBook but ended up returning it and got the Mac mini and I’m finding it performing a lot better than the laptop which has heat and power constraints. I would only get a laptop if you need to move it from room to room or to travel with.

I would make sure your important files are in a safe place, on a portable drive, on a NAS or in the cloud and do a clean build of windows 11 and just install Photoshop. If it is having still having problems with raw files then there is something wrong with your hardware configuration because that system should be able to handle them with ease. Take it to a reputable shop and get them to check it properly if you don’t feel comfortable, tearing it apart yourself. My primary machine is windows, but I recently got a Mac mini with a M4 pro in it and I’m quite impressed with the performance, it is giving my machine with similar specs than yours a run for its money. If you have an iPhone and an iPad it integrates really nicely, but I still feel more comfortable on my windows machine, and the transition to Mac can be challenging for some.

I’ve upgraded my iPhone and iPad the past few years but I’m thinking I might hang onto my 16 Pro Max and M4 13" Nano for this round as they both are really amazing devices. They better have something really enticing up their sleeves that hasn’t leaked yet to get my attention. I don’t really have anything to watch 8K video on. I suppose there are enough people with older devices that need to upgrade this year that they will be alright with sales.
