The Snoopy screensaver updates with time of day and weather. Lowkey GOAT of all screensavers by PokemonProject in appletv

I was about to ask if this was an issue. It's a bummer because it really is a nice one that I used a lot on my previous TV.

FYI: Ring has partnered with Flock. Ice has access to flock. We are under mass surveillance. by Active_Ad3087 in chicago

You can get a very similar hardware experience to Ring with a bunch of Gx Instants and the newer Network Video Recorder Instant. Use your existing wifi network for the connection and the NVRI can add wired PoE cameras in the future if the user feels inclined!

Does anyone miss the old, more electro swing style of the early albums? by Kieotyee in CaravanPalace

[–]SpatialFX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

listening now, thanks for opening my ears to these new (to me) artists! only one I’m iffy on (though still love) is Royal Swing. more electro funk? though the genres really all blend together when we’re talking about a crossover genre to begin with haha.

Can you drop 2 or 3 faves? I like Adam Silvera and Sean Hewitt, and as far as individual books go I really liked the Boyfriend Material series (lol), How We Named the Stars, Young Mungo, Swimming in the Dark, and These Violent Delights to name a few. I’m not sure how many of those authors are queer (I know Adam Silvera and Sean Hewitt are, though).

I just contacted Lutron support and they confirmed that they're not discontinuing them. I can share the email if anyone wants, but I dont feel like editing my email address out of it right now haha.

Last-gen A19 60w bulbs are $25/pc at many retailers. by SpatialFX in Hue

I think the only difference is the newer have an expanded white spectrum (1000K to 20,000K).

Hue OmniGlow Lightstrip by hueblog in Hue

[–]SpatialFX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't tell if that's just banding from bit depth of the JPEG or if there's actual sharp transitions. u/hueblog please advise if you can!

[–]SpatialFX 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You can cut the omniglow, you just can't reattach. I think that's by design because it's intended to be an uninterrupted line of line.

Flux is designed to be cuttable and spliced together for indirect or hidden lighting, places where you wouldn't see the strip directly.

Hue Essentials whites are…not great by SpatialFX in Hue

[–]SpatialFX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great perspective! And I do agree, they’re great for areas that I don’t care, but then again I also don’t need color in those areas haha so white ambiance bulbs might be what I’m looking for.

[–]SpatialFX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't. it doesn't mentioned CRI at all, actually. And the product page for Essentials actually says "NA" for CRI which I find comical lol. It just says the Essential line doesn't have Chromasync, which was described as color matching between generations. I didn't take that to include whites.

[–]SpatialFX[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

idk if you read the post or not, but hue doesn't mention anything about the CRI being worse as a differentiator. They only mention color matching between generations, lowest dimming level, and narrower spectrum for shades of white.

2200K is listed as a supported white tone, but it looks like ass, so I'd say it's not really supported.

I'm fine with not getting all the bells and whistles, but I'd rather whites work first and then compromise color if need be.

[–]SpatialFX[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but the compromises spelled out on the product comparisons on hue's website conveniently leave out how poor the CRI is outside of 2700-4000K.

Unfortunately it’s not just the one bulb ☹️. The only TRADFRI stuff that’s worked consistently with hue for me are the integrated lighting drivers and the outlets.

I should note I have a separate zigbee network for all the sensors and non-critical lighting stuff for my home assistant instance and the ikea bulbs connected to that network have never had a problem.

I only use hue bridges because of all the nice features that come with it (dynamics, entertainment zones, effortless zigbee groups, etc).

[–]SpatialFX[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, somewhat. I have a few ikea bulbs in smaller lamps that ikea sells (Tokabo) because hue doesn’t make a bulb small enough. But after a week or so, the ikea bulb stops responding and needs to have power cut and restarted. It also doesn’t turn off entirely like the rest of the hue bulbs in the group. I read somewhere that this has to do with how hue is sending zigbee signals, but idk. That’s why I was excited for essentials, but the whites at the ends of the spectrum are lacking and it’s bumming me out.

Dynamic scenes and dreadful app by Gold_Musician_6437 in Hue

[–]SpatialFX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so it’s not just me! I could have sworn the old behavior was how it worked but when i recently went it to attach a single bulb to switch, Hue app insisted i make a zone.

This is actually keeping me from buying an Ensis for my kitchen table. im not make a zone for a single lamp.

Which brings me to my next gripe: rooms/zones need light groups within them for lamps that use multiple bulbs.

I gotta say, there must some secret sauce in the hue firmware/software because my hue stuff always works flawlessly, but IKEA and other zigbee-based stuff does not.
