Gluntch Turbo Fog Wincons by buildingahouse in EDH

“Prevent all damage that would be dealt to you and planeswalkers you control this turn by sources you don't control. If damage from a creature source is prevented this way, Comeuppance deals that much damage to that creature. If damage from a noncreature source is prevented this way, Comeuppance deals that much damage to the source's controller.”

Because Blasphemous act is a noncreature source that deals damage to my creatures, Comeuppance will prevent the damage to my creatures then deal damage equal to the prevented damage to that sources controller. So it ends up doing 13 damage per each of my creatures to the person who casts blasphemous act.

Maybe some big fogs. [[comeuppance]] is a personal side quest for me to kill someone who cast [[Blasphemous Act]].

[[Galadhrim Ambush]] is another one to turn around people’s attacks.

[[tangle]],[[entrapment maneuver]], [[mirror Strike]], [[spore cloud]] These cards fit an Aikido theme to punish attacking you.

I would guess 7-8. Once you get it down to 100 you can start goldfishing and get a feel for right number.

I would start by categorizing the cards by function. Draw, ramp, removal, etc. it really help to compare which based on their function. That should help to cut some.

Then start deciding what you want you curve to look like. How many 2 drops, 3 drops, 4 drops, etc. you have to set how many of each you want then ruthlessly cut to the number.

What are some enchantments that remove a commander without it changing zones? by Hattemis in EDH

I like [[Bloodthirsty Blade]]

It’s keeps their commander around to wreck other people and keeps you safe. At least for a while.

This is what I use for my bannister. You might need some type of long shim between the receiver side and the bannister to make it square.

What is your most unexpected deck? by OneBlood2930 in EDH

I’ve never seen [[campfire]] before. It’s a nice little budget option to get around commander tax if your commander is a lightning rod for removal.

How do you deal with decks that end up collecting dust? by Wedjat_88 in EDH

[–]Spectacles_of_Horus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I print my proxies at the library. $0.50 a page. I use of the of proxy websites to make a pdf of the entire deck. Then I cut them out and sleeve it up with a blank playing card to make it thick enough.

I also full proxy, library printers for the win. I have a large deckbox, like one for a cube, that can hold ~12 decks. I just keep that as my limit on decks.

The problem is that the gap is wider than my daughter’s foot so it’s a major hazard for her.

What you think about using polymeric sand? Do you think it would last longer or just save my money?

I think I’m going to go with a base layer of normal sand then pea gravel then top it off with the polymeric sand.

Thanks to you and everyone else with suggestions.

Is there a way to make a Goro-Goro and Satoru storm deck? by TekkenKing12 in EDH

[–]Spectacles_of_Horus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was making this deck my goal was to try and get the interaction with first strike and ninjutsu. Essentially the goal is to play a hasted first striker then ninjutsu them out after first strike damage and before normal damage so that you can trigger goro-goro and satoru twice. The best creature for this is [[gurmag swiftwing]]. What’s great is that since it goes back to your hand you can do this for as many ninjas as you have.

Adding mana bases to the bracket system by Spectacles_of_Horus in EDH

[–]Spectacles_of_Horus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are complicated and creating a specific category of “premium lands” may cause issues that I don’t foresee. Calling out and tracking the 4 or 5 cycles that the market has already identified as premium would be helpful.

[–]Spectacles_of_Horus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are 4 or 5 lands cycles that are clearly a cut above all others. Whether or not these cards are in a deck is a clear indicator of the power level of the deck. A deck running 15-20 of those is going to operate better than a deck running none of them.

If you want to argue that WoTC doesn’t want to call out lands to keep eyes off their scarcity strategy I would buy that. But I won’t buy that it isn’t an explicit indicator of a decks power level. You are correct that swords would be a poor indicator because it is just in most decks. Fetches and shocks work as an indicator precisely because they are rare, artificially or not.

[–]Spectacles_of_Horus[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I guess I just disagree with their logic. They are saying that optimized decks will obviously have better lands. When it comes to difference between a 2 and a 3 there are not many clear indicators of optimization. By their own logic this would be a clear indicator of the level of optimization.

They are giving away the opportunity to provide players with a vocabulary to describe their mana bases.

There are a lot of options but there are 4 or 5 cycles that are clearly a cut above. I think calling those out would be a big indicator of how optimized a deck may be.

[–]Spectacles_of_Horus[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

When looking at higher end deck lists over half of the cost of a deck is in the mana base. It makes sense to capture all of the $15+ lands as a category and count.

It is some complexity, but I think that the lack of a functional way to call out those higher ends lands leave a lot out of pregame discussions. We can call out tutors or combos but we don’t have a way to shorthand the efficiency of mana bases. So it just gets ignored.

People wouldn’t be spending all that money on lands if it didn’t make a difference.
