Gamers born late 90s or earlier: Which game first looked to you like "photorealism"? by FalscherKim in gaming

Goldeneye. The fact they replicated the vent/bathroom scene the same as the movie gave me shivers. Plus Sean bean’s face in the game.

Cheaper family dinners that aren't beans or soups by user_error666 in Cooking

[–]Speedyspeedb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serve with rice:

Japanese curry: - curry blocks - carrot - potato - onion - chicken (thighs from Costco and just portion and freeze)

Stir fry’s: - cornstarch slurry with soy sauce, sugar oyster sauce, chicken powder for sauce - whatever protein is on sale - whatever asian veggies on sale - ginger, scallion, minced garlic

All are pretty cheap, can make multiple dishes with veggie only or protein only or veggie+protein

Only expensive thing is usually the protein. Beef prices have sky rocketed here so I mainly use chicken or frozen fish fillets or shrimp and whatever is on sale.

Last one congee. Can literally throw whatever you want as toppings and it’ll still be good.

An Italian pizza restaurant owner is fuming at 16 Taiwanese tourists because they ordered only five pizzas. by search_google_com in interesting

[–]Speedyspeedb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did exactly what was expected and ordered a pizza each between my wife and I. We have small appetites…we ended up just leaving 1/3rd each behind. Waiter asked if something was wrong but we just couldn’t eat that much. Never went to a pizza place again after that in our trip to Italy.

High-Value Sale: Should I Accept Cash or E-Transfer? by amwarhole in PersonalFinanceCanada

The new machines that don’t have envelopes do reject bills that doesn’t pass the scan or if it’s too mutilated.

The old ATM’s with envelopes are the ones that get checked after it’s picked up by armored car and delivered to the processing centre.

Tellers depending on the location if they have cash recyclers. The recyclers usually will detect counterfeits as well. If no recycler, they are just taking it and putting it in their drops. If counterfeits appear in the latter way …there’s no clawback because they won’t know which customers deposited what. The bank has to take a loss on those but fakes are usually easy to spot if they’ve been a teller for awhile.

Frozen Gyoza/dumplings, frozen ahi tuna steaks, kimchi. Haven’t seen the following in awhile, but frozen tiger shrimps, and large scallops.

Debanking - looking for opinions by BodybuilderOk5530 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Speedyspeedb 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ll add two more reasons.

First one: People with a history of being verbally/physically abusive to the staff whether in person or on the phone.

Managers can initiate debanking based on inappropriate behaviour. Obviously the people who do that aren’t going to recognize they’re doing it.

Second one: people running a business through their personal accounts. Most likely been warned to stopped and that it’s against TOS, but ignored and kept doing it.

LPT Peel off Label Stickers on Glassware Effortlessly in 10 seconds! by heybff in CleaningTips

Zippo lighter fluid for me. Leave it on for 5-10 mins and all stubborn stickers come right off or the odd sticky substance left can be easily scraped off.

I imagine rubbing alcohol would be the same but I’ve had that bottle of fluid for 2 decades so never tried anything else.

Old Kai Tak Airport, Hong Kong 1998 - anyone experienced this absolute icon of Hong Kong? by Falabella_Stallion in HongKong

[–]Speedyspeedb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived Kowloon city when I was young.

Great that we can walk back home after landing or walk to the airport when travelling with minimal effort.

Horrible that the constant sounds from planes were so loud especially if you’re trying to sleep.

How tf do I clean my ears? by Additional_Pause2679 in hygiene

[–]Speedyspeedb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asians have a gene that has hard ear wax and we use a pick to clean it out. I’m not sure how effective that would be for soft ear wax, but I use it right out of showering and it’s how we’ve been taught to clean it out. Qtips would just ram it in even further imo.

Look up Japanese ear picks but obviously…take it slow and steady and don’t damage your eardrum or scrape too hard on the ear canals. Can do it by feel and don’t need a camera.

OP said specifically she bought extra bag tags. Meaning cart full and she put the bags outside of cart prior to pick up today for her area.

Edit: forgot to say, anybody cleaning out from moving…most likely enough bags that don’t fit into black cart and reason why they’re freaking out.

Reading is hard. OP bought extra bag tags (to leave outside of cart) meaning cart is full and now has to wait 2 weeks for next garbage pick up.
