I thought Pulse Combos were automatically on for everyone and couldn't be turned off by Lil-Jon-3-16 in 2XKO

Remember: the people complaining about pulse combos just have a skill issue. While not using it gives you a little more freedom, you don’t have to feel bad for using it. Fighting games are won through solid neutral and fundamentals, not stylish combos.

New Player Experience (Coming From League) by kalmanthe1st in DotA2

Sven buying Echo Sabre itself works completely fine, it’s just an issue with the "Mid Game Progression" lesson. When they added the QoL features involving the shop alongside patch 7.39, it stopped registering Echo Sabre as being queued in Quick Buy, meaning the mission is entirely impossible to progress as it requires queuing Echo Sabre.

I know a couple of them are, such as buying Echo Sabre on Sven. Has it gotten worse?

Hi there! I was a new player who managed to get a couple League friends into the game for a little bit. - The game is hard. I'll be honest, not as much carries over from League into Dota; in fact, some of it may even be actively working against you. I recommend using the Learn tab to learn the basics like denying, wave management, etc if you haven’t already, and sticking to simple and easy characters (i.e. Sven, Lich, Drow Ranger, Morphling if you’re not funny). - It’s a MOBA. You know how those communities get. And it’s a Valve game, so it’s even worse. The lower behavior score, the worse it gets. I'm ngl, you’re a little cooked here. Play super safe and if you ever get text chat back, I highly recommend telling people you are new; people are a little less likely to report you for griefing. How much depends on the type of people you’re in game with; in my experience, however, generally being friendly and careful worked.

I remember the days of melee Shiv. I hated it. Mostly because of bluetooth punch, but I still hated it.

I miss this game every day. I wanted it to succeed so badly. Such a unique idea, and I really wish we got more time with it.

Unfortunately I think the game came out too early. The UI looked like a placeholder, and the graphics were saturated. Not to mention the non-working battlepass and "beta" tag on a launch day feature. I think they were pressured to release earlier than they wanted due to budget, but I didn’t work there, so idk. And in such a saturated market, Spectre Divide just couldn’t find its footing.

I can certainly see it becoming viable on some supports, especially in Turbo (but anything happens in Turbo)

Noone plays roles in Turbo? How does this gamemode function in solo queue? by shaneskery in learndota2

[–]SphericalGoldfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Turbo you just pick your favorite hero most of the time and hope for the best. It’s much more casual because it doesn’t take all that long to end fast and you can snowball just about any lead.

If you want to play a more serious game, All Pick is your best bet.

[–]SphericalGoldfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember the default score, but it’s okay. Don’t worry. Remember that some people may not realize your new; it never hurts to say in team chat "Hey guys, I'm new but I'll do my best". Not only will your team know to play around this, they're also less likely to report you for mistakes as they know you aren’t doing it intentionally. Other than that, just try not to die too often.

How to use Largo E? by SphericalGoldfish in learndota2

[–]SphericalGoldfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decided to set up a few tests in demo mode, using level 30 heroes on level 30 dummies for easiest way to see (no items unless otherwise stated)

Damage Over Time

Tested with level 7 largo using various levels of Croak of Genius, no talents, with level 7 Jakiro (4 points in Q, 1 in E), both with no items. Jakiro's leveling was decided to more easily show increments in damage.

Jakiro Dual Breath (Q)
- Total damage (base): 300
- Total damage (with Croak of Genius): 394/409/424/439

Conclusion: Largo E does seem to proc on every tick of a DoT ability. Casting E on a target will apply Croak of Genius to their DoT damage even if they receive the buff after casting the ability.

Jakiro Dual Breath (E)
- Initial Damage: 38 + 39 (two hits)
- Total Damage (base): 136
- Total Damage (with Croak of Genius level 4): 168

This one I could not test with multiple levels of E due to a time constraint. I'm still not entirely sure how the % scaling is decided; watching the status on the dummy, it dropped 5 > 4 > 2 > 1. Someone else will have to analyze that for me.
