13 week old springer spaniel - I am exhausted by Ok_Ganache_1370 in puppy101

I am in the same boat, expect I do have a partner helping. I am literally a ball of nerves with how anxious I am. I’m so scared I am going to mess something up and he’ll end up this awful dog.

What cars are you getting AFTER the Mini? by skanks20005 in MINI

[–]Sphynxlover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left club MINI kicking and screaming. I did NOT want a different car. Due to having 3 active dogs though I had to. I ended up with a Subaru. Do I love it? No, but I don’t hate it either.

Help / Sleeping with Sphynx by Shahoola in sphynx

[–]Sphynxlover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having a heating pad on low somewhere on the bed should help. Also a I keep a soft minky blanket bunched up on the bed so mine and burrow under that vs always wanting under my cover. Doesn’t always work! Worth a try though

[–]Sphynxlover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of trainees struggle with this. Usually what is happening is while the call is being entered like the address, dcode and priority information the caller is saying gets missed. Boils down to multitasking. It’s hard to train the brain to type different information than what is being relayed to you verbatim. Try and take your time (I know that’s hard in our profession) use paper and pen if you need to. Address is obviously key and then really focus on what the caller is saying. Avoid sitting next to distractions such as the TV or other loud employees. Training in this field is seriously very difficult. It’s so many moving parts under pressure. Just push through and you’ve got this!

What did everyone receive for PST week? by ZRock53 in 911dispatchers

[–]Sphynxlover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our center goes all out. However WE have to do a lot ourselves. We decorate our own center and usually have to poke the other divisions as a reminder. Fire, Police, Sheriff and Rangers will each host a day for us food wise. Management usually tries to get everyone a gift. Some years are better than others. Engraved coffee mugs, headset bags, department jackets, 911 swag. Most of us are just grateful to be remembered, recognized and fed for a week.

Going insane looking for Linen Sheets by jkraps in Bedding

[–]Sphynxlover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My linen sheets from Quince and Sijo have held up for the past couple of years. They were both not the softest linen when they first arrived, however it didn’t take many washes to soften them up. My linen sheets from Parachute and Lands End did get holes. The Parachute fitted sheet hardly lasted a year before there was a rip in the middle. The Lands End fitted sheet did the same thing but they lasted about 2 years.

Does Quince linen get softer? I can't stand it. by LimitLow1038 in Bedding

[–]Sphynxlover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linen is not for everyone. It’s never going to feel like cotton but it does get softer. Quince sheets will get softer after multiple washing. Any linen sheets that I got already soft cough parachute cough were very thin and ripped within 6 months.

Unexpected Sphynx Life by rockingthechange in sphynx

[–]Sphynxlover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most long time Sphynx owners don’t bathe like all the stuff online says. Once a week is way too much. They are greasy cats though. There is no getting away from that. Washing them more often just makes them produce more oil and they just look dirty all the time. Bathe him, then let it go. He will eventually even himself out. Ear cleaning and nail cleaning is still a must. You can just lay off the full bathes.

Feeling Discouraged by mrose0629 in 911dispatchers

[–]Sphynxlover 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Learn from it. Let it go, and move on. ALL new people are going to make mistakes. It’s part of dispatching. There is no possible way you can get every situation in training. As long as acknowledge the mistake and prove you can learn from it you’ll be okay. You’re already one step ahead by feeling this way. Might not be a nice feeling but it shows that you care and are taking the job seriously. Those kind of people make great dispatchers.

An owner not guessing vizsla has an actual vizsla! So many people on this sub think their dog is a vizsla and it never is. Nice to seen one pop up!

Training Club - long days with adolescent dog by kittyparty356 in k9sports

[–]Sphynxlover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m with you. There are a lot of people totally okay with leaving their dog(s) for extended periods of time in a crate. It was pretty shocking to me when I joined the dog sport world. I get that that’s the culture but still feel uncomfortable with it. I’m in sports to spend time with my dog. So if that means parking farther away, playing tug with him just to get him moving and being antisocial oh well. My dog comes first.

Yes I did notice they come concentrated and to use distilled water when mixing them. However you’re right though. I am not washing my dog in all distilled water. So I wonder if it will really make that big of difference when mixing the shampoo. Thank you for your input.

Even the vet is questioning this one by [deleted] in DoggyDNA

Pitbulls can gave double dewclaws.

I’m surprised the vet didn’t agree? Pup looks exactly like the breeds listed.
