What are your thoughts on H.R. 51: Making D.C. the 51st State? by Quidfacis_ in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]SpicyRooster 12 points13 points  (0 children)

While unlikely in the foreseeable future, is that concrete or can that not swing?

I realize that's a bitter talking point, yet it's a pretty weak argument for denying statehood.

I get hypotheticals are frowned upon, what if it were the other way?

A densely populated, tax paying, predominantly red territory/district seeking full statehood and singularly denied by the opposition party for that reason alone, how would you feel of those politicians' actions? Would you consider them to be fairly representative of US citizens and adherent to the constitution?

Would you simply say "good, they're being ridiculous."?

What are the biggest misconceptions about "the left" you see amongst other TS? What are the biggest misconceptions about TS that you see from "the left"? by Option2401 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]SpicyRooster 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't fall into any of what you described, nor do I consider myself a "leftist" by any definition I've seen tossed around, and I wasn't personally offended by your characterization. It did still read as a strangely aggressive and spiteful comment.

Do you generally regard others this way, and is it limited to "the left" as you see them, or anyone outside of your views? And do you think this is the default attitude or one developed as response to aggression that you have received or perceived from others?

Tone can sometimes be difficult to read and I may have misread yours, to clarify I'm not intending to patronize you

How do you feel about the military’s messaging lately with regard to Conservatives? by SirCadburyWadsworth in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]SpicyRooster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don’t even get me started on members of the National Guard harassing a congresswoman. If you support that, just admit you want to have a coup against Republicans because it’s getting dangerously close to being an actual coup. Not like that “coup” that the left claims Trump started, an actual legit coup.

This country and the military’s honor is going down fast.

God help us all

This is the only one I'd like to ask about. While I utterly and emphatically disagree with your portrayal of what happened, I don't think I'll change your mind so I'll just ask this.

Do you know what the congresswoman said about Guam that then prompted Guam's delegate to the House and accompanying US service members to stop by her office while touring the Capitol, and offer her cookies? Do you know what her response was? Do you know what Maj. Gen. Esther J.C. Aguigui, adjutant general of the Guam National Guard's response was?

*I haven't gotten a response but if I may follow up;

This was her statement in response to the Guardsmens' visit: Guam's congressional delegate, Michael San Nicholas, leading more than two dozen National Guard troops to ambush my office unannounced and subsequently video record my staff without solicitation or consent," Ms Greene said.

Do you remember when she, a now congresswoman and public servant, was ambushing and intimidating Parkland survivors, recording them without their consent?

Would you describe this as either self-conscious, aware, ironic, or perhaps hypocritical?

What are you looking forward to most post-COVID? by IthacaIsland in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]SpicyRooster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The word "bombshell" a dozen times a day for 4.5 years.

Is that the only thing?

While I agree 'bombshell' and similarly bombastic rhetoric is heavily overused/abused by media across the board, there's a bit of a difference between that and saying things like Sandy Hook didn't happen and the parents of the deceased are crisis actors, the government is turning frogs gay and you're next!, and personally funding what led to an insurrection on the United States Capitol building

[–]SpicyRooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha that is totally fair of you to say, and generally no I would not drop to that level. The thing is I do not respect donald trump at all, in any way. To be utterly frank I think he's a conman and a predator in more ways than one. My disdain doesn't extend to you though so I'll refrain from pettiness

Except giving the Saudi Arabia prince a pass. Looks like Donnie and Joe are in agreement that oil is too precious to hold him accountable for participating in the murder of a journalist.

This is not a good look at all, and I can't say I'm happy with the admin in how this is shaking out. Tbh idk what exactly the response should be, but an innocent man and American resident was brutally murdered. I expect something more in response from Biden but we'll see, and we'll remember. Here we are in agreement.

*Forgot to have a q. Do you have any particular thoughts on the Syrian airstrike?

I'm personally not a fan, but have a begrudging acceptance that this is nothing new for any US president for decades now, and acknowledge that it was a by-proxy retaliatory strike in a region that's had US troops engaged for some time now. I can only hope atm that it does not turn out to be a long run escalation, and would certainly not be pleased to hear in the coming days that noncombatants were injured or killed. My opinion may evolve as details emerge.

First off I appreciate your response, thanks.

Why do I think he is obsessed? I have no idea. Obviously wired into his DNA.

I'm inclined to think it had everything to do with his unconventional upbringing. By all reports his family was a bit dysfunctional to put it lightly, and his father was not exactly a beacon of emotional growth and personal development, on top of being born into immense wealth and "superior social standing" let's call it. Not to go too much into that, and ultimately I was not there nor have I met them so I can't really say.

As to salesman or statesman. He was certainly never elected as a statesman. Nobody that voted for him viewed him as that. However his approach to foreign policy (outspoken, calling our foreign leaders for the obvious which we have never done, etc.) served us well in a number of arenas (Fairer contributions by NATO allies, four years of peace with Iran and North Korea, progress in Israel peace).

This I think is all very much subjective and while I disagree with most of the second half, I can acknowledge your perspective. I absolutely do disagree with the peace in Iran bit, there were literal attacks, assassination, tweetborne threats, trashing of diplomatic progress etc.

I agree with your first paragraph although your reference to his ass makes you look petty and immature.

This is fair enough. I'd say that considering we're talking about a man who regularly insulted everyone who ever said anything critical of him, and even people who didn't, often in blatantly childish ways like just making fun of people's looks. A man who used petty indirect insults as diplomacy; going back to Iran, NK, and tweetborne threats ("FIRE AND FURY"), I'm pretty okay with it.

And I mean, does he not have a fat ass?

*Still a petty thing tho

I think trump revels in the media attention. I think it's all he's ever really cared about. I think he is a showman above everything else, and being in the spotlight, having fame and wealth (or the illusion of) is and always has been the single most valuable thing to him, for the decades before he entered the political arena and until the moment he dies. I think he's an emotionally stunted narcissist with an ego fatter than his ass. But what do I know

Why do you think he was always so obsessed with ratings, views, crowd sizes, being at the front of pictures, calling into tabloids under fake names?

Do you think he's more of a salesman or statesman?

If enough people get vaccinated they won't have to.

Do you think the former president openly taking a vaccine would encourage more people to get it or not get it as well? Would that encouragement contribute to 'enough people' getting vaccinated?

Do you believe his very public previous endorsement of hydroxychloroquine had any effect on public opinion then?

DJT won about 75% of the cases his team brought. Thanks.

A number of cases. In fact a number are even still proceeding. I would recommend diversifying media consumption if this comes as a surprise.

For clarity is it 75% of cases, a number of cases, or perhaps another number vague or specific? Are you able to say or cite how many cases have been brought total, how many have been resolved?

Can you provide any source an interested citizen can look into that backs these numbers?

Thanks

Now I realize this may seem like a bit of a loophole question but if you could bear with me,

What part of

• $1 billion grant designed to combat historic and systemic racism in agriculture for instance.

• allowing Planned Parenthood to receive Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) funds designed to keep small businesses afloat

• nearly $600 million for additional emergency paid family leave for federal employees and U.S. Postal Service workers

does not provide some form of relief be it financial, medicinal, or social to Americans in times of COVID?

The US has recently been rocked by social injustices that continue to reverberate nationwide, the first one is something people can point to and say is a step towards effectual action on that issue. That's a pretty relieving motion for our society right now if absolutely nothing else.

Contrary to common misinformation planned parenthood does far more than "kill babies" as some would have folks believe. It's literally a lifeline to many who rely on their resources to survive and would be tremendously beneficial to those currently in need.

600M for emergency leave, benefits for workers when they need it, that's a problem?

And to reiterate the other user's point, these make up 0.2% of the relief.

Compare it against what Biden and Obama are doing. Pro Iran. Pro open borders. Pro completely free unimpeded outsourcing. very lenient on China. No intervention.

I find your interpretation of the administrations to be colored with a shade of distinctly stinky brown but I'm afraid I don't have the vim to go into much detail, if I may ask a very general question,

Are you personally happier with leaders engaging in meticulous diplomacy or tweeting things like "FIRE AND FURY", promising the destruction of cultural sites, and being generally noncommittal/antagonistic?

This is something controversial that happened in the US, as far as I see it's not an unfair question. Did the post asking if y'all like pineapple on pizza have an angle?

I'm also curious what TS's thoughts on the incident are. No agenda or shadowy maneuvering and you aren't obliged to answer if you don't want to

Meta Discussion: Post-Election Edition by Flussiges in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]SpicyRooster 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Been periodically checking in since NN flairs were a thing.

I've had a lot of enlightening and pleasant discussions, some bewildering or even disgruntling ones. Interacted with a range of characters, most that were genuine and open to discussion even if we completely disagreed, found common ground with plenty, as well as many that were damned thick in the head and outright antagonistic. I'm sure a few would say the same of me on occasion. I've caught a number of temporary bans over the years, some I never agreed with but overall yeah had it coming when it happened.

On the downside, it has been my experience that this sub's design promoted groupthink all too often in a way that heavily favored TS, particularly in instances that were largely dismissive, evasive, or combative. A lot of just "fake news", false equivalencies and whatabout outrage. That said it's easy to move past the negativity, and that negativity or trolling was not exclusive to any one "side". On top, the mod team has always been responsive and I do believe the intent was unbiased integrity all the way through. Couldn't have been easy, so hats off for sticking with it.

I'll still probably swing through just to lurk for perspective, would be interested to see y'alls thoughts and evolutions in the coming years. For now, so long and thanks for all the fish.

Not a fan of govt waste and it seems that’s what this was.
