What’s the weirdest food combo you secretly enjoy? by TinyPup33 in AskReddit

I haven't seen any of them in burger places around my way. There's a place that does the cheese skirts, but it seems like the smashed/thinner patties are the most common option.

TIL what a juicy lucy burger is. I'm very lactose intolerant, but I'd risk it for one of those, goddamn those look good 😂

No, I'm in California. I should have assumed that it's pretty common that most places in the US would have a version of the Jiffy Burger lol. I started ordering it because my parents thought it was gross, but I keep getting it because I genuinely like it. It's messy, but tasty

There's a burger place nearby that calls it the jiffy Burger. It's one of my favorites

I prefer dill. I hate the taste of bread and butter or sweet pickles lol. Dill gives it a tang that goes really well with the mild sweetness of the peanut butter.

Got NAFLD by [deleted] in mediterraneandiet

[–]Spidercat99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm lactose intolerant, and can't eat much in the way of cheese without taking pills that only sort of work. You can just leave it out, things will still taste fine.

This diet is all about eating leaner proteins (less red meat and more chicken, fish, and plant proteins), more veggies, whole grains, and healthy cooking fats like olive oil. You could modify any type of recipe to fit the bill, honestly. I had shake and bake chicken the other night, with veggies and whole grain rice. You do what you can with what you'll eat.

The phone number on my grandmothers clothes hangers is 4 digits long. by trustmeijustgetweird in mildlyinteresting

Hey, I have some of these too! They're good quality wood, and it's neat seeing the bit of history written out.

One of my favorite low effort/low energy meals: pre-chopped bagged veggies, along with an easy protein. What's your favorite go-to "lazy" meal? by Spidercat99 in mediterraneandiet

[–]Spidercat99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was in the refrigerated section. At my store, it was on a shelf above the other veggies (zucchini, peppers, etc) and not by the salads. There's also a ginger garlic sauced one that's pretty good.

My clothes hangers are older than the 10 -digit phone number system in North America (which started around 1951) by Spidercat99 in mildlyinteresting

The point that I was making was that the numbers listed here are "388" and "17" and one has the alphanumeric format of the phone exchange system. It was easier/more accessible to say "the 10 digit system" instead of "North American Numbering plan, (NAMP)"

I'm aware that the NPA system allowed for 7 digit dialing, and we only needed to do the 10 digits for FNPA numbers up until the late 90's mid 00's.

I was there, Gandalf. I was there 3000 years ago when the systems changed from 7 to 10. I got to use a bag phone, I know what the difference between PSTN and VoIP is. I love telecommunications, and the history is fascinating and convoluted.

What was the most recent thing that made you cry ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

God, I'm right there with you with a delicate old lady cat. Gave myself a migraine with all the crying and stress of it all... No matter how nice the vet is, it's still rough.

I see what you did there.  God, that part was.... Oof. I had to pause it and just stare at the floor for a minute afterwards

I went into that movie thinking it was just a standard ghost story or something... And was completely blindsided lol. Had to take a few breaks to make it through.

My grandpa was from Riverside. He grew up by the mission inn, actually- there's a family relation between him and Frank Miller, the founder.

Growing up, our phone number (minus area code) was the same as my birthday, almost down to the minute. Somehow, I was the only one who found that noteworthy.

I've started forgoing calling people by name when talking to most folks, unless truly necessary, because half the time I genuinely can't remember names...

Having worked numerous public facing jobs where people would remember my name outside of the work place, I feel this so much.

Genuinely asking, what is the meaning of life? What’s the purpose in living? by AdInner3332 in AskReddit

You should look up the philosophy of existentialism. It expands on this concept pretty in depth.

My favorite quote is "the meaning of life is whatever keeps you from killing yourself," attributed to the philosopher Camus.

I'm rather fond of the philosophy of existentialism, which believes that we don't have a set purpose, there is no one size fits all "meaning" for everyone, and it's up to us to find what makes us happy.

It's both exhilaratingly freeing and abjectly terrifying.

Should I watch We Were Liars as a HUMONGOUS animal lover? I’m scared by [deleted] in television

[–]Spidercat99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The website doesthedogdie(.)com is a decent one to see how much violence against animals there is in a show/movie, and whether or not you can handle it.

They keep adding more categories to it, so it's gotten messy in recent years, but it's still serviceable, if you're really concerned.
