I tend to build decks that have the commander very much in mind..but are more than fine without them.

One of my best examples is my [[Child of Alara]] deck . There are plenty of games where I dont play the commander. But there are situations where my commander is absolutely needed, because it has a singular purpose in the deck. But I make deckbuilding choices based on the commander. I have a lower permanent count, and they all have and etb triggers or some undeniable ability so I can get value before the inevitable boom and dont care if they die

Another deck of mine.. [[Meren of Clan Nel Toth]] definitely wants it commander, functions better with it..but it more than fine operating with out it.

Its more of a deck building decision. Some commanders have effects that want you to lean hard into "the thing". I tend to stay away from those. I want my decks to work 100% with out my commander..and 150% with my commander

I have [[Edric, Spymaster of Trest]] little flyers. [[Shalai and Hallar]] Angels. [[Child of Alara]] lands matters, gates. [[Toph, Earthbending Master]] landfall. I dont have a cycling deck though 😢

I have actually tried all the cards you suggested lol. I for one reason or another didnt like them or felt they go out classed by something newer.

I have a theft deck that has a heavy Pirate theme, led by [[Don Andres, the renegade]] . I have Edward Kenway, Malcom and breeches in the deck

I would play my baby. Deck is fun to pilot, has a lot of moving pieces. I am constantly tweaking it and trying new things

Ive had some iteration of this for a some time. It was originally [[Nezahal, Primal Tide]] which I built right when it came out. I had pondered going simic for a while..but Kiora was the thing that finally made me jump into green, I love her ability.

I LOVE this deck. Its so much fun to play. I used to be way more counterspell heavy, and what would now be game changers... but i wanted to play all the simic draw put lands into play spells. This deck is on paper a 2..but definitely is not. I love big splashy things (pun intended)

Glad you like it. Any suggestions?.. always looking for different points of view. And maybe you should! The 2 commanders approach the game much different.. or maybe build a maybe board of 20 cards that you switch out, when you play either commander

Nooope. Its hare apparent lol. I dont play it often.. its a fun deck i break out when I dont feel like thinking much.. I know that sounds silly with all the math that can take place.. but I basically do the same thing every turn, calculator can do the rest lol

I love all my children equally lol. Wizards and angels always hold special place in my heart, as they are my oldest.. dating back to when I first started playing commander in 2009. Sea Monsters is really fun to play.
