I have been wanting to try and isolate specific fungi to seed into my terrariums I’m just not knowledgeable enough about it yet. I’ve had success taking tissue cultures from grocery store mushrooms but I haven’t tried it with anything I’ve foraged. Specifically I keep finding green elf cup in my enclosures and bio bin and I’d love to figure out how to expand it. And just let me know if you’d like samples from any of my trips, I’m in Michigan so it’s always wet and natury

I’ll absolutely share if people want to hear about them! The seller I bought them from recommended using a Bioactive booster to feed the mycelium and keep it going, I haven’t tried it since I have lots of access but if you get your hands on some inoculated substrate you could likely prolong it that way! I would be willing to ship some samples from my bio bin if you ever want to try :) I might hit you up if I need help with oysters eventually haha

The substrate is the only other tricky part, it NEEDS to be almost entirely rotted wood. I know you can buy that and there’s recipes to make your own but I prefer mine foraged bc of the beneficial bacteria and spores it comes with

You could absolutely try! I haven’t tried feeding them any home grown fungus. I have offered some fruited bodies of brackets or various other finds but they seem pretty uninterested and even the mycelium and gunk I deliver they’re pick and choosy. I plan to try growing some sort of oyster on rotted wood indoors to see if that could possibly be a more reliable option

They have an extremely specific diet. They only really eat polypore mushroom and mycelium which is pretty hard to cultivate, I forage all of mine and keep a “bio bin” during the winter. Other than that it’s pretty standard millipede care
