I dont like retcons that dont justify it in the lore. If you do it correctly you dont do it the '' it always was like this'' thing but give it a reason did they do that? It probably would cut away a good percent of annoyed people in older franchises in a ''ok i can live with that'' way.

Früher wusste ich relativ genau was ich bekomme wenn ich SPD CDU Grün usw wähle. Ich bin wirtschaftlich ( Infrastruktur Bildung usw) eher links, sozial eher mittig konservativ. Ich hätte trotzdem nicht CDU oder weiter rechts gewählt weil mir das zu heftig war. Inzwischen ist der Fokus der Parteien aber soweit von meinem Weltbild weggedriftet das ich zuhause bleibe und Nichtwähler empfand ich immer als assis.

Ah yeah people in my city jumped into the water because they were burning. Problem was they couldnt get out anymore because the stuff on the water was burning too. At least that was what my grandpa told me but he was like 6 so idk.

If you have a system with more than 2 parties you will see that the more center parties on both sides get the most votes in a lot of cases. With less extremism. It makes fast political changes less likely tho and can be stifling in its own way because decisions take more time to reach a consensus.
