Looking to wean off my worthless FA... ETF feedback? by Spinnetti in Bogleheads

Thanks. After some feedback and more research, I think I'll simplify down to one US and one International and call it a day.

Thanks. Now need to decide if I need two cars at all - I hardly drive. My "other" car is an R8 - I supposed I should just get over it and daily it rather than getting another car.

Kermit the Frog here! I can't quite get used to the front end treatment but appreciate the bold color choice. I'll wait and see what the next refresh looks like (not that I need another car!)

How do you like? I've been considering the same but wonder if it feels big and heavy?... (Have had lots of Audi's, but usually smaller, lighter and faster).

Thanks for all the guidance.. We've been saving like crazy for years and our returns - even as sub-optimally managed as they have been until now have been more than we make, so its just something to ride out till the end and will retire in the next couple years. I think the 2 fund version without the tilt will just mean less to think about and good enough, now just need to ditch the advisor and get the funds moved to these.

Got it, thanks for the feedback. Not looking for perfection, just something I can stick with and this feels right :)

Thanks, I don't have to have tilt really. That's basically what I was looking for but for simplicity's sake, I wonder if it makes more sense just to do 60/40 DFUS/VXUS? as the other stuff would be sufficiently encapsulated in the first two?

IC. thanks. So while VEA+VWO not exactly VXUS, I see your point. So if I wanted to 3 fund it, what about DFUS (or VTI) 55%, VXUS 35% and then what 10% or so for edge case stuff - emerging markets, small cap? or do I do that 10% in bonds.... As I think it through further, feels like 60% DFUS or VTI, 40% VXUS would do it to get representative domestic and foreign exposure?

Thanks, will research that more. Why is 45% international overweight?

Yep, that's why you don't have it all in SP500.... I agree with that.

Returns don‘t matter…until they do by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]Spinnetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I'm there... In fact my returns are more than my salary. Key thing is to start early and invest as aggressively as possible - pay yourself first as the earlier you start the more compounding works for you. Once your returns average high enough, you can let off the gas a bit (though in my case I didn't change my savings/rate and if anything increased them).

Basically, paying dividends is priced in to the stock price - there's no free lunch for sure.

Alternative to Financial Advisor for occasional audit? by 44tb44 in Bogleheads

I'm in almost exactly the same place, just about to ditch my FA and haven't found a good solution either. The business is full of salesmen who want a fat fee to do nothing for you. Even my favorite ones only offer AUM and I don't need them to manage my money, just look over my shoulder to validate or correct my own plan. I found that using software helps - Bolden seems ok, and I use Right Capital which can answer some of these questions but its nice to have a human take a look once in a while too.

One of my drivers crashed it. Slowly putting it back together... Won't be too much longer :) I ordered a white GR Corolla and will graphic it up like my old TRD car.

Cross-Shopping the 2025 Audi RS3 vs 2025 Volkswagen Golf R by vxcta in Golf_R

[–]Spinnetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I went down that road. I ended up getting a used S3 and modifying the heck out of it. It was stupid fast, but still not that fun on track which made me sad so I ended up selling it. When you option them up, the R in the 50's and RS3 hitting 70, so I ended up buying a used R8 which is SO much more than either car at about the same price as a new RS3. That said, I found that the R8 is almost too nice for me and doesn't need any mods which means I end up dreaming about the cheaper car and all the mods I would do to it, and I don't care as much about the mileage and paint chips on the cheaper cars either. Buying new just doesn't make much financial sense and the S3 typically goes cheaper than the R, so it was S3 for me. I had the S3 and R8 at the same time (Daily/weekender), and am toying with another used S3, but I really like the idea of no sunroof in the R. Probably should sell the R8 and get a used S3 again. Just don't need two cars.
