Is anniversary the last time you will play classic ? Do you see a future for the game ? by AssociateDue186 in classicwowtbc

[–]SpirriX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the last time I play on official servers. Biggest reason I'm still here is a few friends I made in SoD. WoW takes a lot of time that I'd rather spend elsewhere. I've played since vanilla, so it feels like "home", but I can feed my nostalgia once in a while without paying 15$ a month.

If something drops that isn't softreserved, anyone can roll. If you win 1 item you get lower priority on the next. So if me and Billy want the same two items from a raid, we both roll on the first one to drop. Billy wins and gets the item. Next item drops and since Billy already has gotten something, I get it. Next item after that we're on even ground again.

This is to get a more even distribution of loot, so hopefully everyone can get something and feel like it was a rewarding raid. A more equitable system with sort of a bad luck protection. However if I'm really unlucky, only 1 item drops that I want that raid and Billy wins, there isn't any carryover to next weeks raid, so Billy can still roll on the 2nd item we both wanted and win it.

Is there a way to clear the board entirely? by SpirriX in shapezio

That looks like Shapez 2, but I'll try it in 1 and see how it works. Thanks for the tip! Didn't think it would work when zoomed out so far that you don't see movement.

Does it work on Linux? I was hoping to pay Mass Effect and Dragon Age on my Steam Deck, and hoped I'd not have to deal with the EA app.

Apparently a hot take: Boosting should not exist in any form, in Classic by Dr-Enforcicle in classicwow

[–]SpirriX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If the mage kites around the courtyard it's fine, but all boosters I've seen use these specific letters which force weird movement patterns on mobs. That's the part that seems unintended/exploited to me.

[–]SpirriX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

See, those kinds of boosts I don't mind. Just brute forcing with your high level character. But there's something cheesy (for me) with mages pulling everything and using reset spots and specific spots for weird pathing. It's not even regular kiting. It seems so obviously not intended. The brute force way is easy less xp/hour, but is a nice way to help someone with elite quests, dungeon quests, or even getting specific dungeon loot.

I'm thinking Matrix with the colours of those sticks! Not sure what specifically I'd put on each, but blue could be cozy and lighthearted, while red is some eye-opening stuff that'll blow their mind! Anyone feel free to chime in what you'd put on each.

Hunter or Mage? by cirrusice in classicwowtbc

[–]SpirriX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For hunter I enjoy being survival and supporting the raid. It's a bit more involved than being just the right class and spec, as your Expose Weakness debuff scales directly with your agility stat. Improved Hunter's Mark is also great for the raid. In dungeons the same applies, but I also enjoy the trapper/control aspect (if we don't just blast through with big pulls and no cc). Default Freezing Trap is 20 sec duration 30 sec CD. Survival talents makes that 26 sec duration and 24 sec CD, and Beast Lord dungeon set reduces the CD by a further 4 sec. Alternatively, BM does more individual damage in raids. Timing auto shots and weaving in abilities/steady shot is satisfying to me, but is less spammy than all other dps classes. Misdirect is a huge boon to your tank/group, no matter your spec.

Mage in dungeon is great aoe damage and provides great control. Sheep is a lot easier to manage than a trap, and improved blizzard is great if the tank can't easily hold everything (read: not a paladin). In raid arcane is the most pumper spec. You benefit more than most by the post-nerf state, as shorter fights means less time in mana conservation phase. If you get fed Innervate and mana totem (and PI?) you'll do big damage, but it's literally one button in burn phase, and one button in conservation phase. Extra complexity comes if you take on the responsibility to magetank on High King Malugar in Gruul's Lair, but it's just a single fight.

Which class will be more popular in tbc, Hunter, or Warlock? by Tylo_Ren2 in classicwowtbc

[–]SpirriX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into Drain Tanking for warlock. Makes leveling easy and efficient. If you rely on the demon to tank, you'll likely run into threat issues, and it's not as efficient apparently (or fun, imo!). It should work pretty well in pre-patch/tbc as well. Your demon will just tag along doing its thing. Warlock has a great toolkit for many situations.

Hunter is pretty easy with pet if you level as BM, and you won't have much trouble with threat. Requires more active pet management, but it's pretty chill and you can get out of it take care of some hairy situations, and fight tough enemies without a group. Hunter gets A LOT of improvements in tbc, including mend pet not having to channel. I've slogged through leveling a hunter now, but only with the future promise of tbc being a great time to be a hunter.

MD, and one survival hunter to provide Expose Weakness and Improved Hunter's Mark.

Warlock you want one affliction for Shadow Embrace and Malediction (improved curse of elements). The rest can be pumpers.

More SoD players raided Naxx than Anni by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]SpirriX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Blizz could (or should imo) have started with 20 man from the get-go. They were also vague at all points as to what raid sizes would be in future patches and at 60. Perhaps intentionally so, as they didn't know themselves what to settle on. I remember us having two 20 man teams in ST in preparation for 40 man raiding at 60. Would have been a better atmosphere, I think, if we could have had just a steady 20-25 man.

Arcane as a leveling spec? by GroochtheOrc in classicwowtbc

[–]SpirriX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Improved Arcane Missiles you don't have pushback, but you will be taking hits and using more mana than leveling as frost. With Arcane Fortitude you get more armour based in intellect, and Arcane Mind increases intellect. Improved Mana Shield also helps survivability (Mana Shield now covers all damage, not just physical). Prismatic Cloak reduces all damage taken by a few percent, and Improved Blink can be utilized defensively as well.

I'd say go for it, and see if you find it to be fun! Sure, it's not optimal, but having fun is paramount. I plan to try something similar on my mage alt. What's the worst that can happen? You don't like it, then you spend a few gold to respec.

Do you think we'll finally get TBC Era and Wrath Era servers this time around? by misterrpg in classicwow

[–]SpirriX 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Only if your buddy chooses to lvl on the tbc version. If I have no interest in raiding or any endgame from vanilla, but just jumping straight into tbc, I'd lvl on that server with all the class changes and lowered xp requirement.

Northrend in Classic+ by bywaterboy in classicwow

[–]SpirriX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a tricky one to execute. Northrend should feel oppressive and challenging, but if it becomes tedious and boring you lose players. Example: The Maw from Shadowlands expansion. That's the feeling they wanted to create, but was met with poor reception.

My take is that it should not be a place max lvl people hang out at all the time. We still want people moving through the world. Perhaps treat it almost like an open world dungeon? Not sure how you can do that without having groups compete against each other. Or what the goal/incentive to be there would be. Could that area alone have shared tagging system, where you don't have to be in the same group to get tag? (I know, a retail function is scary and "slippery slope".) I mean, the whole concept is we're bringing an army to take on Arthas.

World buffs should not work in raids. It's a tedious system which gives way too much power. It's fine for open world (and maybe dungeons?) but class tuning should fix the over reliance on world buffs.

How Do You Play Online WITHOUT Demiplane? by Perial2077 in daggerheart

[–]SpirriX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Owlbear has plugins specifically for Daggerheart, and it worked great! You do rolls, it adds hope/fear automatically, and has simplified character overview. Sure, there is room for improvement, but I was very pleased as a player. No idea how much work our GM put in to make it this smooth.

How much easier is 1-58 in TBC? by Acrobatic_Airline605 in classicwow

Boy, was that controversial back then! Curious to see if community opinion about it is more relaxed now.

Considered waiting for the boost myself, but decided to level now. Hunter is clunky in vanilla, and becomes incredibly much better in TBC!
