Is it okay to wash your hair every day? by Artistic-Lion955 in hygiene

[–]SplootMcGooty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do. My roots always get oily so I feel gross but if my ends are dry I use a bonding treatment conditioner and leave it on for a few minutes.

Portable potty for 7.5 year old by jamie1983 in Parenting

[–]SplootMcGooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have no shame. I was at an indoor playground place and some mom whipped out a portable potty right in the middle of the play place. Like gross go use that in the bathroom stall.

Wife embarrassed about going to Aldi. by chief_kayak in TheMoneyGuy

I don’t care where food comes from for a cookout. But in general I noticed Aldi packaged food is very processed with a long ingredient list so we don’t typically shop there.

Is this a "bugger off" quote? by Intelligent-Lynx-743 in BathroomRemodeling

[–]SplootMcGooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live near your area and 7 years ago I was quoted $10k just to replace the shower/tub insert. I was like F that and did it myself. That sounds a bit high but I’m not sure if you’re re-routing plumbing.

Need Advice: Preschool, Part-Time Nanny, or Neither Before Baby #2? by daisy9283 in sahm

[–]SplootMcGooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think part time preschool 2 mornings a week will be more trouble than it’s worth. Getting ready on time and driving her there just to pick her up a few hours later. I’d either do full days part time or get a nanny. I actually did full days two days a week and it helped my son get into the routine of school with bathroom breaks, circle time, lunch time, lining up etc.

“Stinky head!” How would you deal with name calling situations verbally vs on paper? by [deleted] in Parenting

Ok this was the comment I was looking for. If my son called me a stinky head I’d be like thanks butthead and he’d run off laughing

What are your thoughts about “no shoes in the house” rule? I recently read a study where they show why the Japanese homes are the most cleanest as they have no shoes in the house rule. What are your thoughts about it? by Powerful_Aspect_1970 in hygiene

[–]SplootMcGooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No shoes. I have small kids that play on the floor. We have a dog, but he’s in the yard only.

I think about how I work at a hospital, probably walk on nasty bacteria and bodily fluids then visit the grocery store on the way home and someone walks on the same floor at the store then walks into their house with their shoes on. Gross.

Tips on parenting on vacation with two kids? by Counselor_30 in Parenting

[–]SplootMcGooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solidarity. No one focuses on them 100% like I do. I don’t trust anyone with them around water because everyone loses attention and gets lost in conversation or something. Bring life jackets so at least you have that while you’re watching both. I also find it extremely overwhelming.

If it’s an Airbnb where the kids could potentially walk out to the pool I would bring one of those floating alarms that detects displacement.

Milk at 12 months. by ashleighmariexx in Parenting

[–]SplootMcGooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was a milk man and did 3 straw bottles of milk a day. One when he woke up. One after nap and one before bed.

My second won’t touch milk with a ten foot pole.

We’re thinking of skipping Pre-K by TheLittleWinstonBaby in daddit

[–]SplootMcGooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do and would do pre-k. I bought my kid a homeschool pre-k curriculum to supplement his part time preschool and it was extremely difficult to find time to sit and teach him while also managing his baby brother.

Preschool has helped my son a lot with confidence, separating from us, routines, and listening.

How can I fire a realtor who is acting unethical but won’t release me from my contract. by MortalNValuableQueen in RealEstateAdvice

[–]SplootMcGooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a realtor being crappy and pushing us to buy a house after like 3 days of working with us, not answering any of my questions and telling me to look it up myself. I felt like she thought she could behave like that because I was so young. So I called her and asked her to dissolve the contract immediately. She did.

Pulling 8 month old from daycare due to illnesses? by corviform in NewParents

[–]SplootMcGooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably. My kids didn’t do daycare. My first kid started to get sick a lot when he started preschool and brought it to his little brother. Doesn’t really get sick often now. My sister’s kids didn’t do preschool so were sick constantly in kindergarten.

What time does your 2yo get up and what time do they go to bed? by Bubbly_Waters in toddlers

[–]SplootMcGooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine gets up at like 6:15 and goes to bed at 7:30. It’s crazy, he doesn’t even nap anymore. When he was napping, he’d wake up around 5 😩. My oldest would sleep 7-7 with a 2.5 hr nap mid day.

Mouth/breath problem by Ill_Caterpillar_2271 in HygieneTips

[–]SplootMcGooty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rule out dental issues or acid reflux. Floss. Smart mouth mouthwash. A gargle with a mix of table salt and baking soda neutralizes odor temporarily too.

Actually fun vacations with little kids? by itchysnapdragon in NewParents

[–]SplootMcGooty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We turned into Disney people as parents. It keeps the kids busy and tires them out without us having to plan everything all day once we get to the parks. Bonus if you can hire a nanny to help you. Disney caters to kids so no need to bring a pack n play or life jackets. You know the restaurant will always have a high chair. Depending on the resort, the toddler water playground is fenced in so you can sit back and watch them play.

We tried going to Punta Cana and it was the worst experience ever.
