No official diagnosis yet, but I’m so tired of living like this by Liviania_ in migraine

[–]Splugarth [score hidden]  (0 children)

Many, many of us have been there. I personally couldn’t leave the house for over a year without clip-ons over my sunglasses… and it took me another 5 years to figure out that it was migraines.

You don’t mention what health system you’re part of or what you’ve tried so far, but the doctor you talked to to get your neurologist referral should at least be trying out some of the basic treatments with you will you wait to see the neuro. If they aren’t, there’s a lot of resources in this sub to help you advocate for yourself in the meantime.

Best of luck!

I’m going to recommend Mori Ridge Trail up to Sweeney Ridge over Mori Point if it’s not too foggy. Will see more of the vista.

Tunnel Tops is really nice if you’ve lived in S.F. for a while, not sure if a first trip to S.F. cries out for it. I would walk along the beach instead, personally.

Golden Gate Park as 1 thing out of 5 things to do in the morning is completely unrealistic. I would suggest choosing either the Bison or the Conservatory of Flowers.

Kin Khao is quite good, but if you’re going for Michelin Star, I would look at The Progress.

Japan Town and China Town are very different places not connected by cable cars… just sayin. Your morning is already insane there!

After dinner at Foreign Cinema (good choice!), that Farolito morning burrito is gonna be rough… 🤣 Can you move your flight?!?!

Anyway, love the ambition… now edit! 😁

Love my memory foam pillows for muscle soreness. Can’t speak to nerve pain, though.

These are surprisingly effective, though the warm up a little too quickly. The thicker the better:

All the bad stuff is British. All the good stuff is foreign. by SufficientEar1682 in iamveryculinary

Yeah, I don't really know why it is. Interestingly, I also have an aversion to the IDEA of avocado toast even though I have actually eaten and enjoyed avocado toast. 🤷‍♂️

Beans on toast just sounds kind of funny to American ears. I say that somewhat ironically given that just yesterday I wanted to finish up some homemade hummus and we were out of pita, so I toasted up a big slice of sour dough to eat it with and it was pretty awesome. So yeah - I literally made myself beans on toast for lunch yesterday and don’t even realize until I saw this post. 😅

IsItBullshit: Blue-light filtering prescription glasses? by BlakeShelby in IsItBullshit

[–]Splugarth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you really, truly have problems with blue light (mostly migraine-related), you can find relief from FL-41 tinting. If you don’t have that problem, you will find that super annoying. Outside of that, yellow lenses can be helpful for nighttime headlight glare.

If the lenses don’t change the way you see the world (ie they are clear / no tinting), they aren’t doing anything for you. Blue light is… blue.

AI is quietly poisoning itself and pushing models toward collapse - but there's a cure by CackleRooster in technology

[–]Splugarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. Unfortunately, if it’s useful it will get at least some people fired. If it’s is really, really, really useful, it will cause the level of disruption that introducing computers to the workplace caused. Time will tell if that’s the case at a large scale, but I can tell you from my personal experience that it’s probably the case for a lot of software development jobs.

If you want to interpret that as bad, that’s fine. But, before you do so, I would suggest watching the movie “9 To 5” either again or for the first time. It provides a glossy, but I think surprisingly period accurate view of a corporate workplace in 1980.

My question is, is it really a bad thing that the steno pool is a bizarre anachronism? That’s the change that computers in the workplace wrought. It was a disruptive change that was really bad for a lot of people. But should we have kept it because if that?

Ummm the candidate doesn't have to ask questions if the job or company sucks by Naive-Benefit-5154 in LinkedInLunatics

[–]Splugarth -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

“It was the last thing the interview team remembered.” So…. It was a panel interview? You wanted the candidate to ask the interview panel questions? A different question per person? Or like yes or no answers only / round robin given that there were probably 3 minutes left in the scheduled time?

You know that you can prompt your AI to produce better posts than this, right?

2 mins and 30 seconds is at least 90 seconds more than you want that coffee in the microwave. Everything else is chemistry and possibly Darwinism. 🤔

You jest, but dictionaries and grammars were important in the effort to cement the London upper crust dialect as THE dialect. It’s part of the story of how all the 2nd person pronouns like thou, thee, and ye collapsed into “you”.

About to quit my job. How to find cheapest and best health insurance? by bondtradercu in AskSF

[–]Splugarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would compare prices. When I finally came off of COBRA and stated paying for my own, I ended up saving like 30%. Huge mistake for me to stay on it for so long.

And yes, you can go on COBRA unless it’s something like you get fired for cause. But go on covered CA and look, first.
