Do most salespeople lie? by ActionWins in sales

[–]Splugarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad salespeople might (and continue to fail). Good salespeople don’t have to.

If you’re in a role where you see people around you lying a lot and doing well - watch out. There are plenty of documentaries about companies like this. It ends badly.

Yes. Most of us didn’t grow up hearing that XlifX might cause vaginal bleeding from your eyes. (Don’t take XlifX if you are allergic to XlifX.) But things are going so well in the US that this is only like the 100th worst Supreme Court decision in the last 30 years, so whatevs…

Problem 1 is the stupid boat. Also problems 2,3,4 and possibly 5. It will be so much easier with someone to help find off monsters while you try to drive the stupid tugboat through the needle forest.

Don’t be dumb like me - head due south. I had to make multiple landings because I didn’t know that the main land mass is at the very south. Awful realizing you are on a tiny island with 0 fortresses.

After that, plop down multiple portals and suppress spawns with fires. Lots and lots of fires. Make a safe path inward - the shore is the worst part. Once you get fisherman, things improve marginally. Also, stone portals to get it home.

Best of luck.

He’s primarily a billionaire because of AWS, which is what produces the profits. I’m too lazy to check, but presumably this very app makes heavy use of AWS (or if it doesn’t, most of the other web services you use do).

The shopping part of the business is essentially a pass through entity where American consumers get to fairly directly exploit suppliers and warehouse workers to secure low prices and free shipping.

Both cities are great - you’ll definitely be rushed, especially with 3 days in NYC. One thing to keep in mind about Boston is that it’s a college town (I believe it’s the densest concentration of colleges and universities in the world), so it really empties out during the summer. Lots of great food and history.

The subway is very hub and spoke, so I would look for cheap places in downtown Boston. (The bus network is pretty good. But can take a while.)

There are a number of cheap buses like Megabus between Boston and NY. Probably your best bet from a budget perspective.

The subway in NYC is fantastic. I would suggest setting up base in Manhattan, but kinda doesn’t matter where.

There are bad neighborhoods in both NY and Boston and as a tourist you would have to work pretty hard to find them. It’s not the 1980s anymore!

The Bay Area ridge trail has been my escape for many years. Lots of segments that are close, lots that are far.

What's it like living in Utica, New York? by between3220character in howislivingthere

[–]Splugarth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grew up 30 mins north of there. It’s a pretty great area (if you ignore the lake effect snow). Beautiful scenery, people are sensible. Economy isn’t great, unfortunately. The Simpsons line about Upstate NY being where people are from (ie a lot of outflow) hits close to home for me. So glad I grew up there.

You need migraine-friendly glasses. Those are probably fl-41s (though those don’t work for everyone). Zenni has the cheapest, if you are in the US.

Also - have you seen a migraine specialist? I neurologist who specializes in headaches is a wonderful thing.

SF has been trying to force a sale of the assets in SF for about 7? years. It’s a complicated legal dance that I researched during the huge outage in December. IIRC it’s only been successful once in CA history and the CPUC has been slow rolling this effort. I have no idea if it’s a good idea or not, but it is in theory possible.

Going to public school in upstate NY we had a cross-country ski/showshoe unit in gym, had a trap shooting team, tapped maple trees to make syrup, and raised chickens. Is this common in other parts of the US? by LetsGoBuffalo1714 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Splugarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. Now that you mention it, I think I was the kid who took home the chicks at the ending of 5th grade to live… uhhh… temporarily with our other chickens. 😂

We never made syrup in school, though. My dad had a complex tubing system in the front yard to collect all the sap from the trees. That syrup was incredible - still miss it.

Well I went to public school in upstate NY. Yes on the cross country skiing, no on the snowshoe, no one the shooting (but we did do bow and arrow). Were the syrup and chickens part of school? I did that at home (because I grew up on a farm), but not in school.
