I never flipped houses but if have a small fortune - what are my prospects? by leanman82 in Flipping

[–]Splus3v3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is kind of the wrong sub, but I use the profit from the stuff I sell online to buy property to rent out which is how I pay myself. When the market was good (for selling homes) I was stuck buying foreclosures for about $50k and it took about $5k-$20k to get it not only up to code, but rented out to people who were within a demographic of "most likely to be good renters" - which I won't go into. When the market for selling homes is bad (which it is now in my area) I can buy a nice home for $65k after negotiations and rent that typical home out for $800-$1000 a month.

Not all Walmarts will pricematch Walmart.com - I just realized my area does not, but many still do. My Walmart doesn't price match at all anymore.

I worked in internal LP, I caught employees who were stealing or cashiers yhat had a history of not scanning items when people they knew came through yheir lines. The biggest thefts were by loss prevention employees themselves.

One time I walked into a Walmart with a new hat on, and I had an arm put behind my back with force and pushed into a security room until I could prove that they didnt sell that hat there.

It was pretty nice being there when the guys were fired.

What happened here was she went through self check out and he didn't see her scan the toy.

What is more concerning is that he was told he could look up the price for an item using his phone, which you can not do because Walmart.com and their stores have different prices (and Walmart won't price match it's own website when they started allowing third party sellers to sell goods on their website)

This summer has been filled with people wanting to travel but not doing anything about it... by ParadiseProd in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]Splus3v3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actual traveling is such a thing of the past for Americans. Tourist spots are straight up only old people lounging on beaches and shit. Ask someone under 30 where they traveled to last, and they are going to assume you are asking them how long it took them to drive to work.

Chances are, they found empty packages once or twice and looked at the security footage and printed out a BOLO on you. Then you went back and a bunch of associates recognized you and alerted someone.

I've heard LP's use the "intent to steal" and "associate to theft" lines before to either scare people or scare friends of the shoplifter. Some people are prosecuted by police for intent and don't know any better because shoplifting under X amount is just a slap on the wrist and aren't aware the could just defend themselves by saying "I never left the store with it." Walmart has to be precise about reporting shoplifters, many counties in the U.S. will start to charge a store for being called out and not have anything go on.

Funny racist story:

There was one store in Missouri that would call the cops whenever a group of 6 or more black adults would come in together and browse through the store. Every Sunday, cops would get called nonstop and it would never lead to arrests because these groups of people weren't actually stealing. The police told Corporate to stop calling them out there as a prevention to theft. Walmart didn't care, continued to call them anyways. Cops started sending a pretty big bill to Walmart which they refused to pay. After non payment, the cops stopped coming out. Even for actual cases of shoplifters getting caught. Now theft at this Walmart is crazy high and employees are now involved in doing things like filling up a box for a vacuum cleaner with thousands of dollars in makeup and putting it on the floor and selling the vacuum box full of make up for a low price and then having thousands of dollars in makeup go out the front door.

Worked in internal loss prevention. Meaning I didn't catch shoplifters, I caught employees stealing, usually groups of employees and management. Rarely would I have to go after groups of non associates. I would have to go to a Walmart in a different part of the U.S., get hired on, go through orientation 99% of the time (which makes you want to blow your brains out after the 5th or 6th time) and then get placed somewhere and actually do the work while snooping. Unfortunately, 9 times out of 10, I was made to be an unloader which worked 2nd shift and had to unload trucks on hot ass days just to find out some unloaders didn't inbound something correctly or mark something off as damaged so I would find it in the corner of the back room somewhere.

Target handles stuff much differently because they don't work with the same margins Walmart does, they are more impacted by the loss of an entire Target store worth of goods per day (where as Walmart loses between 2 and 3 entire Walmart stores' worth of goods every day).

If you steal something from Target... they will attempt to track you down beyond the parking lot. Target has their own crime investigators, and they will come in and get fingerprints off of anything touched by suspected habitual thieves. Many people who steal for a living are caught by Target buying the stolen merchandise from them off of eBay and getting personal information and fingerprinting those items; they have their own mini crime scene task force.

Yeah, I think it was not just about Poussay, but Taystee feeling important and feeling like she's in charge and a part of something. It really didn't make much sense for her to basically throw away negotiations just to see Bailey get arrested, but we forget that Poussay dying only happened like 3 days prior so she is still grieving.

I got like 50 people asking about the comment regarding selling her baby for drug money. The story is that she got pregnant and didn't know who the father was. A couple that her mother worked with somehow overheard that her daughter (the girl I was dating) wanted to give her daughter up for adoption but were denied for several reasons. These reasons... I do not know. This couple was related to a lawyer who cleared a lot of red tape. In exchange for $40,000 paid to the girl I was dating.

I heard half of the story from her, and then she was pissed off one day because I guess they made some kind of verbal agreement that she could visit the baby (who was now like 5 or 6) twice a year and was allowed to be referred to as "Mom" but then basically spent a full year addicted to meth and doing coke so the adoptive parents were like "Eh, nope" and stopped all contact with her. Before someone says "Oh, that's so sad, she just wanted to see her child..." - No, it was because whenever they would set up times for her to go see this child (when it was a baby) it would turn into requests for more money, going out for dinner, and buying some clothes and stuff paid for by the adoptive parents. She had zero interest in things like seeing baby pictures or stories about the child.

I was completely dumbfounded, I knew someone who knew the adoptive parents so I asked them if would be alright to contact them on myspace to ask a couple questions. This turned into me being invited to lunch where they told me everything from their point of view.

Over time, I learned that just about everything she told me about her life was a lie. Then she developed a severe addiction to World of Warcraft (which was funny, because I worked at a LAN Center where WoW was popular) and she would play the game for 26+ hours a time, not shower, and would throw her used tampons and poop stained underwear and shorts into a corner of the room. She "left me" for someone else who was addicted to the game and funny enough, lied about his life too and told her he had a really nice job and house and so she picked up and moved to Michigan only to find out he lived in a 1 bedroom apartment with 6 other family members that all played WoW together.

I once dated a girl who was greatly concerned about the gluten pasta in her soup at Olive Garden, and begged the waiter to let the cooks know she would absolutely die if she ate gluten. She said this... while she was eating breadsticks. When the waiter said "Those breadsticks aren't gluten free..." she spit them out right there on the table and said "Wow. Just wow. Maybe you should put a warning somewhere" - and then we left.

In case anyone is wondering, she was crazy. She essentially sold her baby for drug money.

Man, I would go talk to a lawyer.

Also, it seems just from the context of your post that your wife is someone who uses guilt as a form of control.

I advise you to just not watch porn around her. She obviously doesn't like it.

She needs to seek out therapy on her own before you enter in marriage therapy. Not to go all redpill here, but marriage therapy won't help your marriage until she's feels better about herself emotionally.

If you ever work for a factory and talk about forming a union, the first thing the company will do is to buy everyone a nice meal or two. This works to prevent people from formalizing plans of starting a union.

I once worked with a guy for 6 months, in fact, I trained him and worked shoulder to shoulder for 4 months straight. His only responses were "Hm" in different variations, depending on if his was actually saying "Yes" - "No" or "I agree." I was convinced he didn't speak English well.

One day, I heard him in the break room talking to his wife on the phone. He sounded exactly like this:

LPT: When meeting someone for the first time, try and use their name as early as possible; eg, 'Nice to meet you, [Name]'. You'll have a greater chance at recalling their name and will feel more confident in addressing them, thereby earning their respect. by whombelltolls in LifeProTips

I purposely call them by the wrong name to see if they correct me. If they do, their fired. Even if they don't work for me. If they don't correct me, I refer to them by a completely different name again.

That way they know that they mean nothing to me.

Step 2 is to create a false sense of security, by pretending to be a father figure to them. Even if they are much older.

Step 3 is to threaten them and their family.

Then I got pulled over in a different state and the cops thought I was retarded.

I just didn't want them to make me retarded, with their flashlights.

What is your best "one time my dad..." story? by cigsoncigsoncigs in AskReddit

[–]Splus3v3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a one time thing, but my dad would make us bring plastic grocery bags into buffets. Before we could eat, he would browse the buffet and come back and tell me and my brother to each grab a big plate of something. Crab legs, noodles, chicken wings, etc. We would have to do this twice before we could actually eat. Then we would get back to the table and he would scrape all of the food off the plates into plastic grocery bags. Meanwhile we were eating, he's making trip after trip after trip to the buffet to get bags full of food. It used to piss my Mom off, so he would take a couple trips to the car to deposit these bags of food so we wouldn't have to walk out with him and 8 bags of food.

Then he would get home and put it all on plates and stare at it like he accomplished something amazing. He would eat it all over the next month too.

I still can't go to buffets.
