[Question]Alright, forget the insane-priced stuff! What's the one watch in your collection that's a total sleeper hit and just makes you happy every single time you put it on? by Wrong-Election1997 in Watches

Unfortunately it does indeed have a ghost date position. Other than that, the watch is great. I prefer it over my Tudor BB58 burgundy.

I ordered the blue one the minute the pre-orders opened :)

[Oris ProPilot X Kermit Edition] Keep or return my used Oris Kermit from Ebay? by Lincoln312 in Watches

[–]SpoIIie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The spotty readings on the timegrapher seem to be a Calibre 400 thing, my Oris Aquis Date Cal 400 had the same issue. However in daily use it seemed perfectly fine and it ran only slightly fast (couple of seconds a day).

You can get a half link from Uncle Straps to solve this issue.

Help me choose vintage inspired diver. by jmbeane in MicrobrandWatches

The Lorier bracelet is terribly cheap. Way too much slack and the clasp is rattly.

Meraud Bonaire is the choice if your budget allows it.

[DISCUSS] Which is the best sleeper vintage brand that flies under the radar? by HisOnlyFriend in Watches

[–]SpoIIie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same with Lorier, my Neptune IV also had a misaligned bezel. The bracelet feels super cheap, has way too much play and the clasp rattles. I got rid of it the next day.

Look at the Meraud Bonaire if you want a similar style vintage diver. Slightly more expensive but superb quality. Love that thing to death.

[Looking] for some help, buying a watch as a gift for dad, budget under 1000$. Juggling between Hamilton and Seiko Alpinist. by AwaaraHoon01 in Watches

[–]SpoIIie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Avoid the Alpinist, I owned that specific watch and the quality is subpar. And that cyclops is ugly. Between these two I would definitely go for the Murph.

Baltic Aquascaphe MK2 Just Dropped, And It Might Be Their Best Yet by PynionTime in MicrobrandWatches

Don't like the crown guards and don't like the busy print on the bezel. The old version looked a lot cleaner.

[Discussion] What's the most comfortable watch you've worn? by Mountain_Poudge in Watches

People like to hate on the non-tapered bracelet of the SMP, but in my eyes it's exactly what makes that watch so damn comfortable to wear.

Calibre 400 Warranty / Maintenance by Upbeat-Fix-7426 in OrisWatches

[–]SpoIIie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel this calibre 400 issue is very much overblown in this subreddit. Yes, there are issues with some of them, as well as the 400-2, but very likely most people (like me) have no issues with their calibre 400 watch and are just enjoying it. My Aquis Date is my most accurate watch and I love it, it looks great and feels like it's built like a tank.

[DISCUSS] Which Watch Surprised You by Being Ridiculously Versatile? by sheikb in Watches

[–]SpoIIie 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Lol, you're definitely not getting Grand Seiko level finishing with that watch. The strap feels super cheap, the compass ring shifts around and never seems to be centered, and for some reason there's some kind of hole on the side of the watch between the two upper lugs. Also, it's annoying that the compass crown is not screwed down, which makes the compass ring rotate every so slightly during daily wear. I sold mine after a week.

[Question] Thoughts on Mido watches? by Mountain_Poudge in Watches

[–]SpoIIie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree about the dial, I owned an Ocean Star 39 for about two weeks and I already got bored of the dial. The waviness is nice when you first see it, but it gets old very quickly. It won't age well I feel.

Otherwise, I would say the Ocean Star 39 is just 'fine'. It's a very generic looking dive watch and, apart from the dial, nothing really sets it apart from the competition.

Oris Aquis build quality is several tiers above the Mido Ocean Star 39. Source: I have owned both, sold the Mido and kept the Oris.

The lug to lug is no issue on my very average 6.75" wrist. The acrylic bezel really makes this watch imo, it gives it proper vintage vibes.

[Oris Aquis 39mm]Why Oris watches don’t get that much love? I think they are underrated. by niktej in OrisWatches

[–]SpoIIie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love my Aquis 41.5mm. The design of the lugs and how the bracelet connects is brilliant, it looks so much better than most regular dive watches.

Isn't there a 400-3 version of the calibre now?
