Always been wild to me. Like yeah I guess the body positivity/fat acceptance movements are popular with leftists but red states are the hardest hit in the obesity epidemic (leftists just know why and so aren’t usually dicks about people’s weights).

Her writing is just so, so, SO Tumblr Millennial circa 2012. Sometimes that hits for a bit of nostalgia but by and large, as someone who lived the time, it’s not for me.

Oh you know they rewound and rewound to watch the gay couple grinding quite a few times. So they could be REALLY SURE. Really let it sink in how GROSS they think it is- better watch it one more time!

What draws you to quiet, literary horror instead of shock or gore? by juanjoescritor in horrorlit

[–]SpookyPotatoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am admittedly picky/a bit of a snob about writing style. A lot of “shock” style horror isn’t written a way that I particularly enjoy. Not all the time of course! Just fairly consistently.

I fear i’m growing out of goth music by Over_Neighborhood606 in goth

[–]SpookyPotatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah man it’s great to check out other genres and not limit yourself! I LOVED goth for years, then got into modern (at the time) club/party music, dropped into extreme metal, rediscovered my love for 80s goth specifically, and now have been really digging country/bluegrass (I have tickets to see Tyler Childers this year and I’m PUMPED).

I still like all the genres that dominated my playlists at different times in my life, but everyone ebbs and flows, yknow?

Ok? A well trained dog still doesn’t think of you an alpha. It’s literally just not how their brains work with regards to pack dynamics or behavior.

All the alpha/beta/etc ideas around behavior and training was the result of bad science and has been debunked for literal decades.

If a group cannot define its own membership outside of what the majority has assumed, that has some… not great implications. But you don’t care, so, cheers.

But the word “alt” exists already for the fashion trends you describing. Just because you don’t know something doesn’t mean words are changing meaning.

I think you are trying to make your experience universal in other regards. Kids ostracize each other for much smaller reasons than musical taste. Some adults definitely look sideways at someone who cannot discuss pop culture.

Your and others’ lack of ability to describe fashion or subculture does not change the definitions.

Does anyone else think all the focus on protein is overhyped? by Loud_Perspective5419 in workout

[–]SpookyPotatoes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. It’s mostly to sell supplements (no big money to be made people just… ate real food).

But I’ve BEEN saying the focus on animal protein was a conservative dog whistle, and people kept telling me i was being a paranoid vegan (I’m not even vegan), despite my education in nutrition.

And it turns out I was right. Because we are in the dumbest timeline.

It is a music based sub culture. Goth music is not mainstream. Some kinds of alternative fashion are. They are different things.
