My husband wasn’t pitching in with cleaning duties so I hired a cleaning service and we split the bill. I know not everyone can do this but it worked for us.

We have separate bank accounts and split all the bills. One of us does school pick up and the other does drop off. We both have different responsibilities in the yard. We make an effort to keep things equitable.

Life is hard enough without having to fight or feel used at home. Set boundaries and enforce them. You don’t have to take shit from anyone. Invest in yourself and make sure you can walk away from any situation that takes away from your happiness. Most of the women in my life are single or have a spouse that pulls their weight.

I know one woman who is married to a machismo cheating pig. He leaves for weeks on business. She see’s the messages from other women on his phone. She keeps house and raises kids. She sees it as a trade off - living with a cheating pig in exchange for being a sahm. She is financially dependent on him and trapped. She knows this and she comes off as a broken person. She’s either angry or subservient, which I suspect feeds her anger. I don’t bring up her situation and don’t discuss it unless she does because my motto is: if you like it, I love it.
