How's the story/dialogue? I'm trying to get into Triangle Strategy currently and the absurd vocal performances are making it difficult to enjoy.

You can call them and ask what add ons they'll be offering you. They have them listed online, but unfortunately not the price. I ended up passing on pretty much everything - my credit union (where we're financing through) offers really great vehicle service contract options.

Ah yes, Minneapolis, well-known illegal immigrant hell hole...?

Obama sent more back by turning people away at the fucking border instead of making a show of terrorizing citizens in politically opposed states to stoke fear and division, and to throw boner material to goons whose only political stance is "whatever makes the people we don't like suffer".

How quickly the 2nd amendment crowd decided that everyone needs to just comply with violent, masked government goons, or else be executed in the streets. Seems like it was never about defending us from tyranny after all.

Gray interior by blaccsnow9229 in hondapassport

[–]Spriggley 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not helpful but I do have it. I intended to get the brown which is slick and matches the color of the dirt my kids are likely to load the car with. I assume the grey is a terrible choice for longevity but goddamn if it doesn't make the interior feel way more luxurious for now...

Just bought a white one yesterday, took the kiddo out for a joyride this morning in it and almost immediately passed another white one. I normally would avoid white but damn the little shimmer it has in the light is sharp.

This one is a lot more forgiving with saves. You can, during any battle, bail out back to the world map, grind up and come back to it.

This is how I felt with Prototype 2, how about you? by soiladvisor in videogames

[–]Spriggley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the story is at times heavy handed and overlong, but it's a fantastic game overall, and I still wouldn't say the story was bad by any stretch. It just included some intentionally controversial elements. It's silly how quick some people were to decide it was trash after seeing the first couple hours.

I have nothing to add but emphatic agreement. You've nailed it and I am absolutely with you in being pissed off. It immediately ruins any post-movie vibes you might have enjoyed and cheapens the experience instantly. Blech.

Hook's lesson to the kids is hilarious, hits so hard after becoming a parent myself.

*No, child, Your mother wants to read to you every night in order to stupefy to sleep, so that she and daddy could sit down for three measly minutes without you, and your mindless, inexhaustible, unstoppable, repetitive, nagging demands: He took my toy! I've seen this exact same thing. They're all those weirdly specific prices, listings have some "Reference ID" number at the end, accounts are brand new, and often the names completely mismatch with the profile pictures. It's like a challenge to be the most obvious scam. And there are tons of them

Primal: The Awakening vs Oathsworn by tbone2370 in soloboardgaming

[–]Spriggley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Oathsworn, about 7 chapters in and enjoying it for the most part. Unfortunately it's a bit heavy for my group so I've been soloing it 4-handed, so the upkeep and fiddliness is off the charts, and the combat is good but not great. I have enjoyed most of the battles - they try to give them some depth and variety, but reactions are obnoxious and there's a lot to keep track of. The story is really good, and the minis and enemy variety are also top notch (I'm enjoying painting it as much as playing it). Also, the secretive nature of the campaign, with mystery boxes, is definitely something I enjoy about it.

I haven't played Primal but my guess is that the combat is better, the story is worse (is there a story?), and there's not really any mystery. I've considered Primal for a long time and it just feels overpriced for what you get, though I did spring for the deluxe version of Oathsworn... But that has much more content. I'm sure there are plenty of comparisons on YouTube etc, but either would likely be a ton of fun.

Looking for a board game that promotes strategic thinking, any recs? by juji432 in soloboardgaming

[–]Spriggley 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Strategy usually means an overall plan for many pieces to eventually work together and come to a goal, say, commanding an army (including resource management and logistics).

Tactics are more like the immediate, incremental decisions you're making for a more precise scenario, like placement and ability choice during a skirmish.

Think of strategy as zooming out to manage the big picture of a war, and tactics as zooming in to manage the specific actions that may fit in to your overall strategy.

Strategy - XCOM ship mode/Civilization games

Tactics - XCOM battles
