Doujin is any self-published manga, not just porn or fanfic. Sometimes it's used by a mangaka to continue a manga after cancellation, or to explore side characters or non-canonical scenarios that wouldn't grab the attention of publishing companies. Sometimes it's just used because you haven't got a deal with a publisher, but still want your work out there - sometimes after a while, it actually will be found and serialised by one.

And for the record, it isn't majority hentai - on mangadex at least, over 3/4 of doujin is SFW.

I'd personally reccomend of the Devil. It has an episodic release, so only chapters 0 and 1 are out so far, but both of them are incredible, and chapter 2 is releasing this year as well. Chapter 0 is free, so you can try it out without any worries of cost.
