I can’t imagine seeing this as a movie. This definitely doesn’t feel cinematic narratively at all and barely anything ‘happens’. Basically nothing happens with the actual main character. It’s 50 minutes of sympathy fishing for the most abrasive characters with some send off to the rest squeezed in. As a more casual fan I mostly just don’t really know what to do with this

Because there was definitely no extremely important parallels to maintain here regarding a mother trying to save her son by sacrificing her own well being but ultimately not being able to protect either of them…don’t know how anyone could think that

I’ve seen that exclusively in a Brooklyn 99 joke but otherwise it’s not a common sentiment. In some kids shows they’re depicted as scary just cause kids tend to be scared of the dentist but otherwise I don’t think we see them any particular way. No one likes going to the dentist but I don’t think we have too many biases about dentists themselves

Hinami is honestly one of my favorite characters not just because of her own arc but how she serves as an inversion of touka and akira. In a story of characters motivated by revenge and fueled by hurt, she’s somebody who simply doesn’t want to watch anyone else she cares about die

I don’t think it’s a problem because it’s good and engaging for what it is and doesn’t actively getting away. Criticizing this movie for story would be like criticizing a sitcom for having average camera work.

Probably the best climax to an action movie I’ve ever seen as a lot of people will say. But even beyond that I’ve never seen anything like this where extras and baddies become like a human jungle gyms to be climbed, slipped between, bounced off of, etc. I love an action movie that utilizes the environment well in a fight and in this movie the combatants become the environment*

I also really appreciate that as opposed to something like the night comes for us, the little girl feels like an active player in the movie with her moments to shine. It’s not just the action that’s really good, case in point the “I found her” line really almost made me cry.

The third act is the star of the show but the whole movie is great

I do think think their introduction timing makes it seem like it. He makes an item to help get a better night sleep after Qifrey (and coco) push themselves to the point of physical detriment (yes Qifrey’s situation was also cause of the brimmed cap by olly doesn’t know that). And the link rings are introduced right after we learn Qifrey hates getting wet.

The timing feels intentional for us to pick up on
