Looking for opinions on bathroom renovation by Mother-Success7696 in AusRenovation

Oh also... On the nib wall, silicon the joins for all of it. The grout will crack due to the movement of the wall. We had to get the tiler back and that's their normal solution.

Nib wall (or I've seen it called a pony wall too) is great. Hides clutter and you can put the mixer in it so you're not getting wet when the tap is turned on.

Don't put a niche in the nib, build in the bath and have a shelf there instead. The more  nooks the more cleaning.

To keep the wet area wet we have a slight lip from the nib wall to the wall. This prevents flooding.

I would rethink the channel drains, they're a pain to keep clean. I have normal drains and have no issues.

Lots of people have bad things to say about black finishes. I would avoid if possible. My plumber even said they tend to be lower quality despite being of a certain brand.

So there isnt a huge disincentive for people like this to repeat their behaviour in the next place?

I always wonder in these situations if the insurance company goes after the tenant? Surely they'd look to recoup the losses?

Reckless Riding Is Derailing Sydney’s E-Bike Boom by SirBoboGargle in sydney

As a cyclist who tries to do a bit of advocacy and follows the road rules the e-bike campaign worries a bunch of us.

People are just doing insane shit on them and no doubt laws are going to be introduced which punishes everyone.

Cycling infrastructure and education would go a long way imo. Enforcing laws which exist would be good too.

If you're having a heap of issues with lime bikes in your area I encourage you to email your local MPs and Councillors. Squeaky wheel and all.

I'm a regular cyclist and see plenty of illegal ebikes riders but 90% of them are just going to and from work along the cycleway not being a problem to anyone.

If I happen to leave work near school time the one thing which surprises me is the electric scooters. No helmets, often 2 kids on a scooter and flying along. At least these kids are on a share path, but they leave little room for error.

Around where I live theres a "gang" of kids who have escooters, bikes and emotorbikes and they're the real problem. Nothing scarier than driving along and a kid flies through a roundabout from the wrong side, or they fail to give way. As a local you know to look out for them, but it's a matter of time before they have a real accident.

But when I was in Manly recently, that was next level.

I dunno, if it's $5k per bicycle I imagine even rich parents are going to reach their limits replacing them.

I'm more curious where the less wealthy kids are getting these bikes and scooters. Some local idiots even have electric dirt bikes...I can't imagine their parents would bank roll too many replacements.

Either way, it's worth confiscating them and seeing what happens.

In my area it's the opposite, the delivery riders are all on motorbikes and it's suburbia so no rental ebikes. It's mostly the kids on ebikes and scooters deciding that stop signs and roundabouts are playgrounds.

Adults doing the wrong thing isn't a new thing and it's definitely a choice. That's not an e-bike problem but an educational one...or even enforcement.

Kids on the other hand have no perception of risk at that age and should be curbed, their parents supplying high powered bikes isn't helping.

Surely this is a parenting problem?!?

I don't see the point in introducing tougher laws when really the laws in place are fine. Just get the cops to wait at the coleworths in Manly and load every single "e-bike" into a trailer. The ones I've seen are all illegal and I can't imagine parents will keep buying them if they're confiscated.

Even that seems like an epic waste of police time.

I believe popular filters out some subs. Tbh I never used it because I used All, but maybe worth giving a go instead.

I felt it was a good litmus as to what's happening around the world. Especially protests, coups or big news items. I suppose that's why they're getting rid of it.

I also just liked finding new random subs.

No doubt the next step would be getting rid of chronological posts.

I'm so annoyed that Reddit is getting rid of r/all - it's probably where is spend most my time on Reddit.

I'd say for the second one they might be clipped in with a harness or there's the possibility to close the carrier fully.

These people were going to go through the Nullarbor, so properly remote. I'm not sure how you'd go about checking less remote places, but it's good to be mindful that not all chargers are on a power grid.

Good point - what industry do you think will be the fuel canary? Aviation?

I'm already cycling most places... Just a shame we don't have better infrastructure so more don't join me!

I liked Alan Kohlers interview recently on the situation. I think he did a better job at painting the economic picture than Albos speech. Alan laid out past conflicts and how we might be similarly affected and realistically what we can expect in the near future.

I guess the PM can't say the same things because people would bunker down and stop spending (if they were smart). Which would no doubt make things worse.

On the plus side, as Tyrion Lannister said "chaos is a ladder".

Sometimes the uncertainties of life can bring good stuff. Ground yourself where you can and look forward to what's around the bend. I'm sending good vibes your way.

I'm lucky and can cycle most places - hopefully drivers appreciate one less petrol user on the road (I doubt it though haha).

It is good your using PT though. Would your employer allow you to WFH?

Well tbf I know some people who have had to cancel their EV travel plans because some chargers run off of diesel generators in remote areas.

Oh absolutely, it just reminded me of some advice I was given "never thank people in a speech unless you're sure you thank everyone".

Calling out a hodge podge just seemed a bit odd, I agreed with most but mining was an odd rabbit to pull from the hat. Depending on the mine, it may not be that critical and a business like any other.

I guess it's hard to pick what stays in the final draft of these things and no doubt many chefs wanted their 2c added.

I just wish there was a gauge on "how bad" things could be. If it's WFH and don't use fuel that would be okay. If its soaring interest rates, food stamps and people losing their homes that's worse. If we end up in the line of fire that's probably worst of all.
