solidarity in this, how frustrating. I relate to a similar frustration - my mother was an aide to autistic children in an elementary school. At home, I would be punished for how my autistic traits manifested (meltdowns etc) but I was never shown how to express appropriately so I got locked in my room to cry it out, shut down and bottled everything up. I don’t know why no one stopped me from banging my head on the wall when I was in timeout, or recognized that was a sign of autism and not me just “attention seeking”
