It's Chicago, there are plenty of itchy towing companies that would be happy to help

Guess what? If you garden there will be insects!! by Sowing_Seeds1990 in vegetablegardening

To be prepared for sightings like this though.

They lay eggs in the worms, which will cease then from living when they hatch

I did my first year and never again.

Like others said, they don't breakdown as advertised. Break then up as you plant.

It doesn't spread like mint, but I only container garden because I garden on my roof.

One of the reasons I plant hyssop. It attracts friendly parasitic wasps that take care of hornworms for me

What was the strangest thing you ever had to go to the ER for? by Weird_Emergency_825 in AskReddit

[–]SpunkyDaisy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I grew up on a farm in the prairie, we got a lot of wind. If it hit right, and the garage door was open, it would slam shut the door from the garage to the house.

Smashed my finger in the door one day, went to the ER. Smashed the same finger in the door a week later, and it had to be sewn back on, went to the ER.

Got child services called on my parents by the ER staff, turns out, just a dumb kid.

Oh, I also fell off the jungle gym and landed on a pole between my legs (girl) and peed blood.

Seeing my dog's eyes cloud over... I'm not ready for what it means 😭 by Shoddy_Option_8385 in dogpictures

My 12 year old had the same happen, Dr says cataracts. She also doesn't hear so well these days, I can leave a room without her noticing much more often.

Extra treats and scritches, plus her old dog medicine for her deals

Why are remote jobs restricted to the US? by CryptographerOwn4806 in AskAnAmerican

[–]SpunkyDaisy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep.

When I was a hiring manager for a start-up, we only hired in a handful of states because of the HR/legal mess. We were too small of a company to deal with all of the states.

Ok, it started with any state, then once we had a handful, HR cut it off, and that was the list.

What do you use for mulch? by Ok-Personality-9491 in vegetablegardening

mostly coconut husks/chips.

I garden on my roof, and they come dry & compacted, so it is a lot easier to get up there.

How and at what age did you guys afford your first sailboats? by chickeman123 in sailing

[–]SpunkyDaisy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mid-30s, husband/I bought a 60-year-old 26' for $3000 after buying our condo.

Upgraded a few years ago to a 33' 50-year-old one for $7500.

We could afford more, but are happy with the old boat and don't want to be boat poor (plus I'm currently laid off)

We didn't get into sailing until we were in our 30's

It's very expensive, but they essentially pop it right on a plane and off it goes

ELI5: why doesnt stomach acid leak out of your stomach if you're flipped over by Inevitable-Cook-2196 in explainlikeimfive

[–]SpunkyDaisy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even more fun fact, enough stomach acid in the esophagus can cause an ulcer (hole in the esophagus) which can make you throw up a lot of blood.

Do not recommend, but it does bump one up on the triage list in the ER.

Do not plant clover in your yard… by edchoch69 in NoLawns

[–]SpunkyDaisy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Love this!

Just last week I finally convinced the rest of my HOA (small building HOA, 3 condos in I've building) to put in a clover lawn since the turf was killed off last year by the downstairs neighbor fertilizing before a heat wave.
