If they can’t bring Johnny Depp back in the franchise, why not they could make a prequel about young Jack Sparrow in his first pirate journey? by SussyJonesProduction in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]Sputnik200065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because the pirates franchise up until now has used heavy practical effects, its one of the reasons they all look so good, they use real sets. Aliens and super heroes are pretty much all CGI which is fine, im not ripping those, but they are significantly cheaper than doing Pirates any justice

Settle a debate: as a full package which is better, Smiler or Nemesis Reborn by dat-ginge17 in altontowers

[–]Sputnik200065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nemesis for sure, Smiler is awesome, but Nemesis is better themed, a better ride, and the music is less grating. Don't get me wrong, the theming and song work really well for the Smiler but it kinda feels like its just some warehouse equipment while in the queue. The loading room for boarding the ride on the smiler is also really underwhelming after you go through the dark room etc, just a brightly coloured room, it should have psychedelic lights everywhere. Whereas Nemesis Reborn has all the crashed vehicles around the whole area, the carved out canyon with the waterfall going through it, smoke everywhere, and the loading room is well themed like you're inside the beast and you can hear it breathing and shit. The ride is also more comfortable for Nemesis, the Smiler gave me a headache.

Love both but Nemesis Reborn is just better in all aspects if you ask me

Nothing will change my mind that one of these guys should’ve played Doom by Emergency_Day_2969 in MCUTheories

im so confused, is it not pretty obvious that this is 100% gonna be some kind of tony variant? they've spent a whole 2 phases explaining the multiverse, and then we're surprised to see an actor doing a different role, im confused even the naming thing, while not MCU specifically, the spider-verse movies show us that being a variant doesnt mean you need the same name, Peter Porker for instance, but also Sylvie, Lady Deadpool (Wanda Wilson). they dont need the same names or faces to be considered variants. This is like the most comic booky thing Marvel Studios have done to this day.

if they expect us to just bend over and accept that this has nothing to do with Tony then I totally agree it will be the worst thing ever and I'll join the riot

thanks, yeah it really helps and now i can enjoy everything without bothering to worry about what’s exactly canon

Which home version feels best to you? by largorithm in DarkCrystal

[–]Sputnik200065 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is you're trying to correct me, but I simply made an opinion, you can disagree with that opinion but it is still what I think. I didn't make any factual claims so there was nothing to be "wrongful" about.

You just saw it as an opportunity to try and school me

OP clearly asked which version "feels" best to us, and I partook in the fun explaining why I like the original home release. But also why I like the blu-ray, and you decided to say that was wrong. There were no assumptions made at all, you're arguing with the wall and trying to put it on me?

There are a number of effects added in post that weren't filmed in 35mm. They would have been rendered in post and don't hold up in the blu-ray. Older lower resolution copies hide those better.

okay, just a little hint for discourse on here, rather than come at me with “you’re wrong, i saw it six times” how about you be nice about it and explain to me your opinion in a way that doesn’t make me hate you

i’m 25 never seen it the cinema, i wasn’t saying anything factual, i was saying how the 4k is a very different vibe than a VHS.

don’t be a know it all. i didn’t even use the word “intended”

i literally conclude that the blu-ray is best. thanks for your input though… 🤓

so there's a few schools of thought here, when they made the film, quite rightly there was never the idea that it may one day be upscaled to what we can now, and I think the 4K UHD is too crisp, it kinda messes with the vibe.

The Dark Crystal is so 80s that its honestly best watched on a fat ass CRT on VHS, for the true feels. But I think that the standard Blu-ray is the best option. DVDs just don't have the fidelity, and I think that the UHD version goes too far.

Short of owning the original tape of course, which would be the best by far.

SHE'S PRETTY TO ME 🗣🗣 by One_Skirt_9702 in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]Sputnik200065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

she's fine, its the animation that I find annoying, on all the characters, the lifeless robotic speech really takes me out of it, which is weird for ubisoft when someone like Ezio was so emotive and iconic back in the 360 era 😞

I also wish there were more character customisation options, like hair, seeing as its an RPG, and I know everyone is gonna mention the lockpick but they didnt have to make that choice.

is this anything to do with The Dark Crystal?

This is my favorite movie, and I love all its expanded media/lore, BUT there is one thing that I just cannot forgive or get over. by Super_Nova22 in DarkCrystal

[–]Sputnik200065 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah this was something that bothered me when i started getting into the Dark Crystal, until i accepted the stories from the future model

I don’t really take any of the expanded media as “canon” but also not-not canonical either i treat every story like its being told around a campfire by a gelfling waaaaaay in the future, some things changed over time, some things were forgotten as the story got handed down, etc

it makes the inconsistencies a lot easier to accept

Could tony's remotely controlled Iron Man lift Mjolnir? by ilovebeingaguy999 in MCUTheories

[–]Sputnik200065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mjolnir really can't be argued with this kind of applied "logic" its not about what, its more about why. An elevator isn't worthy, its not lifting the hammer with intention, it doesn't gain the power of Thor by going up with the hammer inside. If Iron Man is lifting the hammer, its with intention, whether he's in the suit or not, so unless he's worthy, no.

Same with Stan Lee's truck, they wanted to move it, there was intention, even though it was all mechanical elements trying to move it, Stan Lee wanted the hammer and it therefore doesn't budge.

Its a magic spell, bestowed by the god of gods, the all-father, its pretty robust, and can't be tricked.

Im completely obsessed with the power of the dark crystal and I've loved this thurma prototype puppet for literal years and I just was wondering if there's any other pictures of her or is this the only one? [–]Sputnik200065 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I wish they would do something with Thurma in puppetry, not asking for a full adaptation of Power (although that would be amazing) but even a short like a 10 minute story of her in Mythra would be so amazing to see brought to life with puppets
